12900KS

from what I can see it looks like you can compare the KS and K sp score if you do K sp rating - 10 ish..

So lets say you have 110 p core K cpu, it should be the same as 100 p core KS cpu.
115 K = 105 KS
100 k = 90 KS

and so on.

Time will tell if that is correct but it looks like it.

I decided to buy another KS today from a different store, it has a different batch number but still V.

My first was SP84 and I was gutted. Today's version............. SP85. How can one guy be so lucky!!

The SP84 can do 5.3ghz all P core and 4.0ghz all E core @ 1.315v LLC4 with a minus offset of 0.050v max package temp 85c

The SP85 can NOT do 5.3ghz. In fact at stock it wants 1.447v at LLC3 and reaches 100c on 4 cores and only 5.2ghz on P and 4.0ghz on E. It is a dog. At most it should have been sold as a 12900K, more likely a 12700K.

Same ambient and same cooler. Ambient 21c, using a Gallahad 360 AiO

I was gutted before, now I am downright catatonic.

Wow, thanks for the info Rob! Now I feel very lucky to have the SP/P 102 KS I just got here in Australia.

I think that contrary to mainstream opinion, there are niche use cases where the KS makes sense. For example, I play BF3 capped at 360fps on a 240hz G9, but the lows are certainly noticeable on my stock 11700k.

I found that the game ran smoothest on my KS on a 6c12t (no E-cores) configuration, and from there I overclocked all 6 cores to 5.5GHz with a -0.08V offset in XTU and set the cache to 5.0GHz.

This averages to about 1.375v in hwinfo, drawing about 100W on average with temps in the 60s in my NR200P Max.

The game feels a lot smoother and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. I was originally planning to upgrade to the 13900K but now I’m hesitant as I wonder if I’ll be able to match the performance I’m getting now if the IPC increase of Raptor lake turns out to be <5%.

Good luck to all the other KS buyers out there in the silicon lottery! But unless you have a specific use case in mind I think you’d probably be better off sticking to the 12900K…
