I've got an MSI MAG 1000W PSU as part of a system at the start of the year it's a decent gold rated unit under a year old and barely used.

Trouble is it's hardly got any cables I've got enough for peripherals but only 2 x 8 pin GPU cables ( it's got a 12vhpr connection on the PSU side) which rules out anything better than a 5070ti (and even some of those) I contact MSI and the cables aren't crazy expensive but they want 50 euros for postage so it makes it not worth doing. Cablemod are also expensive by the time you factor in postage.

I've seen 12vhpr to 12vhpr cable's on eBay but I'm very reluctant to buy a cable of unknown quality given the reputation of these connectors.

Do any reputable manufacturers offer a cable or can anyone offer another suggestion other than buying another PSU?
Thanks
Scott

Looks like it but with the exception of the 12v HPR which is a right angle. Might do me though
Think i would go for the Corsair personaly. Kolink do have some good stuff, but would not trust a already flakey power conector with a budget brand cable.

Corsair also do right angle cable as well for £9.

Search for "Corsair 90° 12V-2x6 GPU Power Cable – For NVIDIA GeForce RTX Graphics Cards, Easy Connection, Ultra-Flexible, Thermal Protection – Style A/B".

Don't think this one has the thermal protection, but i may be wrong.

Also, i take it these cables can be used on your PSU?

sorry if this is a thread hijack but it's relating to the 12V-2x6 connector. Traditionally, you're never supposed to mix and match cables, I've been getting search results which suggest that with the new ATX 3.1 standard that this doesn't actually apply to this particular connector and it has been standardised? does anyone know if this is true or not and does this mean you can just get any 12v-2x6 cable as a replacement if needed?

In theory, if the 16-pin is present on both ends then you can swap cables between brands.

Corsair's ThermalProtect and Asus Equalizer cables are compatible with more than their own PSUs, for example.

Glad I seen this post it actually triggered me to check specs im in need for one for my strix supply as its only 5.0 cable. And as I just fitted a aqua computer ampinel it shuts the gpu down when set to 100 power so new cable is a must

yesterday I saw a hardware unboxed youtube which caught the 12v HPR cable getting very hot at the 5090 end but actually melted into the beQuiet PSU - suggesting it was actually the cables into the PSU which failed causing all the power to go down just 2 of the cables. Any thoughts?

Mostly that there's no reason why the PSU end should be immune to the melty-lottery of the 12VHPWR connector.

One thing, depending on the build, rather than getting cool ambient air flow, it instead may be getting hot exhaust from the GPU washing directly over the PSU connections, and also internal heat from within the PSU on the other side, making it a challenging scenario for it to dissipate heat.
