+12v question

is it running a tad low? it went to 6.86 when running Nuclearus

its an Antec truepower trio 650w

machine specs are 2x160 and 1x34 H/Ds all sata, 8800gts, abit IP35-e, [email protected], 2xdvd writers 2Gb Giel 6400 in a silverstone tj06 case

I wouldn't trust that with a barge pole, all 3 rails are wrong, and notice how the 12V and 3.3V are exactly the same!

If you want to get the true reading stick a multimeter in a spare molex from the PSU :)
 
Don't trust the software, the power supply also measures it's own voltage via sense cables and can compensate the output if required.

how much are these multimeters?

You can get them from £5 and up depending on the features you need. Most will come with settings for measuring ohms, voltage and continuity, the more expensive ones handle things like frequency and logic.
 
I've come across this with the 12V speed fan reading. With just a 4 pin plug in the 12V CPU power socket I get a 12 volt reading but with the 8 pin plug plugged in the voltage reading rises with load on the system.
