140 Rad Loop, worth it?

Ok, just playing with ideas here more than anything else, not necessarily going to carry through with this, but who knows....

Been considering putting a WC loop together in a relatively small space, and I'd like it to stay quite neat....

So, I was considering something like:

XSPC 5.25'' Drive Bay/Pump Combo
A thick 140mm Rad
2 140mm Fans
CPU Block

Cooling either something like an i3, or an i5. Maybe one of the old 775 CPUs....

Basically, would the res be ok for the amount of heat the CPU would be producing? Can't see why not? And would the pump stand up to it. I know I could get something massive, but don't particularly want to.

I'd be running the fans at a relatively low RPM, trying to keep it as quiet as possible...

Also guessing, that no one in there right mind would try running a GPU and CPU off of a 140 Rad (admittedly I'd probably get a better pump if I thought about it....)

It would be great for an i5, i3. Trust me if you want to go through with it. I've got a 140 in the loft and I can post a fs in mm. Never been used ;)

But it would be adequate.

It would be excellent. A single, sub 200W component on a thick 140mm radiator would perform very well indeed.

Look at things like the Corsair H50 and the temperatures people achieve with it. Your proposed set up would definitely be better, I believe considerably better, than that. With the proviso that combining a pressure sensitive cpu block with a weak pump would be an error.

Push-pull might not be worth the noise and space if that's what you're planning. Yate loon make some nice 140mm fans. Ideally I'd suggest a 38mm thick yate loon with a >10mm shroud, but that depends on how severe the space constraints are.

I could potentially try a 120mm, it all depends on which mountings I put in a mod.... The 120 is possible, dunno, what do people reckon between 120 and 140?

As cheap as possible :p It's not going in some uber high end system... Hell it's not even going in my main rig. Hence why it doesn't have to be uber high end...
