144hz v 1440 resolution

It's got 7 x 4 star reviews so looks a good option, one reviewer states it can overclock to 70Hz which is nice. 32" is too big for the size of my desk, but I have been looking at the BenQ 27" version: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/benq...ing-flicker-free-monitor-black-mo-110-bq.html

I got excited to see OCUK promoting an Acer monitor sale this morning: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/moni...il&utm_term=0_c199b69777-6d8f9e726e-216559581

but majority of them are out of my budget, though for £100 more this has potential: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/acer...descreen-led-monitor-black-red-mo-095-ac.html

The BenQ one looks decent - I'll add that to my wishlist and see what else I can find...good spot.

The Acer is a freesync and not really good for me with a Nvidia 980Ti

Get a monitor and Vega gfx :)

I have twin toddlers mate, every penny I get goes on them. I wouldn't be able to afford a new gpu and monitor. I'm probably even going to go second hand if I can to save the cash. I could get a new monitor at a push but beans on toast for a month isn't appealing...just yet lol

Went with both.. got 1440p, 144hz and g-sync for about £360. Oh that was from the clearance section on OC. Keep your eyes peeled for the deals... my last monitor was a b-grade 1080p 144hz monitor and it was great!

Looking forward to plugging it in finally tonight.

Beware it uses the same panel as the MG279Q though. Poor quality control.

Sorry mate, to clarify, the panel is poor quality control or Acer's finished monitor is poor quality control?

edit: ok, just noticed you have the MG279Q so presume you mean Acer's build is poor and to go with the Asus equivalent?

What did you go for in the end?

For 1080p 144hz vs 1440p 60hz, definitely the latter. However, if it was 4k60 Vs 1440p144, I'd go with higher refresh (having made the mistake of going for higher resolution from 1440p).

No, I mean both FreeSync monitors that use that panel have poor quality control. I don't know if it's down to the panel itself but a quick google will show you both the Asus MG279Q and Acer XF270HU have poor quality control. I went with the former because it was considered a slightly better built monitor and it was slightly cheaper at the time, although it requires a quick driver hack to get a 57-144 Hz FreeSync range. Now the latter is much cheaper.

I bought one of these last year. For what I use if for (a mix of office work and gaming) I think it's brilliant. I used the calibration guide from http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/benq_bl3200pt.htm and to my (albeit ageing) eye the coulors are beautiful and with being a VA screen - deeper blacks and no IPS glow to boot :)

However - it is BIG and does take a bit of getting used to. And, it's only 60Hz. But - I am very, very pleased with it.

Ta, yep I seen that one. Have to wait until June to get a screen as the twins beds need replacing :/ endless burning of cash with two babies

144Hz screen for competitive/multiplayer gaming, 1440p for cinematic single player games.

depends what you spend most time on.

I bought one of each for different uses ^_^ 1440p with 144Hz costs like £500-600 these days (was a more reasonable £400 pre-Brexit)
