£15 Computer ...

Well our university has them. Why would I lie?

They have not even started production yet, so how can they have them? You might be getting confused, I don't know of any boards that can run debian though.
Don't know what you are talking about with DVD drives, as these just run the OS off an SD card.

It might be better to teach them how to read, write and do some mathematics properly before letting them lose on a wee bit of programming.

trying to teach skills without a goal doesn't work very well and leads to disinterested pupils and lack of attention.

Get them inspired with a goal and they'll be much more interested in learning the skills to achieve it.

Such a big mistake lol, they are completely different devices intended for completely different things.
Anyway, are you at Cardiff? I spoke to some of the people from the EE society who were making a quadcopter, maybe one of them was you..

Could it run Windows XP?

I might get one and replace my parents rig with it that has a 4GHz dual core and 9800GTX, that can go on ebay :D

No, I'm at Aberystwyth.

I thought they meant as in, using Linux to control it. My own stupidity not reading the OP properly.

Im doing computer science at the moment but hoping to switch to AI and Robotics for 2nd year as the first year is common to all.

Are you studying at uni? :)

No I am at college.

oh...that's not that impressive then :p

Its basic stuff haha! :) Just starting to learn logic in relation to robotics and so forth. Using logical statements to make things do stuff. Not the most thrilling of things as of yet.

This is far more cool which was made at my university.

Problem with that is they probably won't be familiar with it. My parents would have a **** storm if I replaced their OS with a distro, even though they just browse the web & email.
I should probably introduce them to something other than gnome though that is a bit more windows like.

Total rubbish pointless product for this county...

why use a £30 machine where a £15 one will do?

Also you're missing the main point that this thing and the arduino etc focus on...

FUN :D

Robotics, we have to learn it so that we can teach our children not only how to build lego but how to make it move and crush their friends legos :D

It's our duty as future fathers.
