15 mins of red alert 3

But surely there will still be fighting for resources. Just because it isn't field based doesn't imply no one will want the damned ore any more :/

But the way that you managed resources and fought for it was an integral part of what defined CnC as CnC, but it seems like everything is being bulldozed into another generic RTS ala generals.

But what he's saying is that who cares what form the ore takes? You still have to fight for it

All the people that are moaning about it, why is it worse than RA2 etc? It has the same gameplay features but with updated graphics? Sure its no innovative but its by no means bad surely?!

I like to play my games before I judge em, but this does seem very much like C&C 3.

I personally would like to see a fixed Generals; a game that was buggy, unbalanced and very much different to classic C&C, but it was still ****loads of fun online (with the right people). :p

Diddums. It's a forum, I'm sure you'll live.

I know that already, but other people get crap for doing it, and I've personally witnessed you moaning at other people for doing it. Doesn't take much effort to ignore, or to say something simple like each to their own.

Works both ways, let's not drag this out.

What do you not understand about my point? A key part of the CnC series has been removed, which makes it less like the CnC we all enjoyed a few years ago.

I agree it does and after this post I ain't gonna continue on, if you don't like the game after watching the vid, theres absolutely no reason to post about the game prior to it calling people names for liking it. If they do they do, no need to try and cause problems.

Anyway, I think it looks like good fun regardless of graphics. As long as it isn't buggy as hell(EA) and isn't released unfinished, should be fun.

If a game just keeps getting better and better graphics wise the gameplay is still gonna be the same, this is why C&C have multiple titles (RA, Gen, Tib) its so they can explore and improve, the new resource thing is a bit of exploration by the devs, if it doesnt work and isnt popular it wont be back, Games have to try things to improve and they dont always work, I for one am looking forward to something different in the C&C RA universe.:)

But it was tried in generals and afaik wasnt liked. RA has always been about ore fields, yes there is space for trying things but not at the expense of core concepts which are extremely popular with the gamers.

IIRC you could have multiple Chinooks/Trucks collecting from one supply point.

Watching the full video now - this one ore node one harvester business seems like an odd decision to me but the core gameplay looks pretty good to me. I'm looking forward to it. It's not the original RA1 but more like RA2 + Generals which is by no means a bad thing, but I can't see myself enjoying it as much as i did RA1 all those years ago.

I'll let you have the last word then :p

But the whole massing tanks and ore/tiberium fields are what define CnC for me (gameplay wise) and they are 2 staple components that shouldn't be changed imo. Sure, make a different RTS with the new system (like generals wasn't a CnC game at all, just an average RTS with the name slapped on) but keep CnC "feeling" liek CnC and change other components.

Wonder if its coincidence that since ea got its mitts on westwood all the c&c games seem to be over the top colourful, or it was just at a time where vid cards were getting more advanced and the colour was a natural progression.

RA has always been a bit soft and bubbly though.

I've been looking forward to this for a little while.

First is impressions, graphics look good, especially the water. Dissapointed with the ore, should have left it how it was. Naval bases is a cracking idea.

I just hope this will be better than cnc 3.

All cnc games i've been hooked on, even generals, apart from cnc3. Cnc 3 has had about 5 hrs total use from me, just didnt really find it that great.

On a rather odd note, my keyboard keeps randomly typing "w", damned annoying having to edit out every 4th word or so :p

Great looking game, really like the look of the water and the reflections it gives off as it ripples, the fire from the ships/artiliry rounds looks amaizing.

Have to agree with the comments on the ore collection though, the only reason i can see them doing this for, and may become aparant when we finnaly get hands on with the game is to help the naval gameplay when the player has an exclusivly naval base; This would help to focus your attention on the water and not the land, i could possibly see that if this naval idea takes and people become accustomed to it that they will revert to the classic ore collection in the next title to feature naval abilities like this.
All in all im quite looking forword to this and it should be another great title in the C&C world, lets just hope they dont introduce some more mega weopons with supid destruction powers!
