Is it mentioned the attacker was Muslim or am I miss reading it?
What we have is in all likelihood a drunken idiot wandering down the road who thought it a good idea to try an burn a kid with his deodorant at a bus stop. His ethnicity, religion, what the boy was doing during the day, or any number of other variables, implied or otherwise is probably immaterial.

Agreed so why does it appear people have made the link from a reported Asian man to a Muslim Asian man.
Or is this about the way the article seems to hint at something without saying it.
Either way I don't really care I'm just interested to know why some are getting wound up.
I generally do state the reasons for posting in my initial reasoning and opinion in my opening statements. I'm not usually a post and run kinda guy.
From the news story itself it seems the injuries were relatively minor and the makeshift blowtorch was a deodorant and a lighter...the sort of daft thing kids do all the time.
Hardly horrific, especially given your relative experiences I would have thought.
Because people like to use anything as an excuse to exercise their prejudices. Even this poor kids assault.

I'm not suggesting anything. I am clearly stating that some of the prejudices expressed in this thread are a direct result of the intent of the original poster. It's nothing new now is it, whether you have prejudices or not only you know, but you needn't actually have them to want to cajole others into expressing them for your own amusement or whatever reasons you may or may not have.
No need to apologise. People are people after all.

I clearly stated exactly what I just clarified for you. If you are prejudiced or not is immaterial. I don't care if you are or are not.
Indeed, the article is just reporting what happened, with some background to the victim. Of course some journalistic rhetoric as well...
But that doesn't stop people making assumptions based on the ethnicity of the attacker, the clothing of the victim or what the victim was doing earlier in the day.
