So my budget is around 1500 +/- I will be using my PC mostly for games. And obviously i don't know that much so i need your help guys.
What i was thinking is Ryzen 1700x with GTX1080 everything packed into Phanteks Enthoo Evolv case. Could you guys help me out with all other parts and/or some advice. If i missed something, which i probably did, let me know.

Is it just for gaming?
the 1700x seems a bit of an overkill, the 5 1600 3.2 is more than ample for the job.
Also try looking at the NZXT s340 Elite case, its fantastic plus it comes with a magnet puck that you can hang your headphones on, fantastic cable management and also looks the bee's friggin knees :)

1700 overclocks the same and basically has the same performance as the X just .10mhz slower which you wont notice, so might aswell save the pennies, i did go over budget, but thats because of the motherboard, i just went with it because its good, you can save money going for the lower priced ones. i have assumed you only need the core components , if you need to factor in windows and a monitor then please do state so people can spec round them.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,564.54
(includes shipping: £14.70)

Yes i only need core, no monitor/mouse etc.. Windows isn't a problem aswel. Thanks for your time and help anyway, i will look into stuff you recommended tomorrow.

Mostly for gaming, i do edit from time to time etc, but not that much. When it comes to case, I can't check it out right now but i will as soon as possible, i just thought that case looked sick but tbh i'm open minded.

Edit: should have added if you're just gaming and not streaming then the Ryzen 1600 would be suffice - and OcUK do some great value board/CPU/memory bundles.

What res are you playing at?

*Note: When adding 16Gb you need to use 2 x 8Gb sticks - as using 4 x 4Gb puts unnecessary stress on the IMC - especially when clocking (Ryzen is dual channel so no advantages using 4 slots).

I've added AM4 approved 3200MHz memory but you could drop to 3000MHZ and save your self £30 and notice little difference.

The Asus B350 is newly released and has positive reviews - and looks the part if going for a windowed case.

Gigabyte GTX 1080 - Gigabyte has great aftercare and UK RMA (you can this for you MB too)

I've swapped out the case just for to give you more choice and the EVO SSD will feel just as fast in real world situations as an M.2. for gaming.

There's money that can be saved all over the build (550W PSU, smaller SSD, 3000MHz memory etc...) - but if you're 1440p gaming this will munch through it as 'still' it would with minor tweaks for budget...

I haven't added an 3rd party cooler - but the supplied Wraith should clock the 1700 to 3.7GHz comfortably.

An example of the same build for budget comparison with smaller SSD, 3000MHz memory and 550W PSU (You could add the Phantek case and be on budget):

does the AM4 boards not work well in quad channel then? to be fair i only chose 4 sticks because it was first in line that was in stock after the 2 stick kit above it and figured 16gb be enough to take up all slots.

OP - plec is on to a winner really, i did a mock up based round the 3 things you sort of asked for, but decided to pick an X version board, if the 1700 was just for name sake to brag about a bit then the 1600 be better suited hence the suggestion from above and as for the case, its nice, but was quite expensive, but never changed it, ironic how much the price difference is between the micro atx version and the atx version..

mwhahaha Ti power.. yes over killer and £70 more

But toning down with Gigabyte/asus/msi/evga gtx 1080 would be a smarter idea depending on our screen but Ti will last the 3 ear warranty when gaming in he future ;)
money saved could be put to a good air or AIO cooler and overclock the CPU

Strix Board is a stunner im not going to lie , had one myself in Z270 format although dont no why they didn't include IO cover :(

over to you @Plec

Hey Exo

No, it only supports Dual channel (even with 4 sticks) - so, ideally you make up the 16Gb using 2 sticks. Plus, using all 4 DIMM slots will put extra stress on the IMC (especially at 3000MHz+) and if he/she is considering clocking this would put him at a disadvantage straight away.

Hehe, what's that M.2. doing in a gaming unit :p

I knew you would shoehorn a Ti in there somewhere :)

OK, here's 1600 @ 3.9GHz 8 Pack build - with an Asrock X370 and an AIO cooler. You could remove the AIO and save another £100 and use the stock wraith and still apply a 3.7Ghz with the supplied Wraith. And add a quality 3rd party cooler at a later date and apply the 3.8/3.9GHz clock. Either way the bundle is good value when you break down its component parts...

ah fair enough, i was never aware of ram being able to stress like that, i know about compatibility and mix ram, but never read about the IMC, good to know for future prospects

@Plec, sweet bundle deal- drop the case to a Pure base 600- much easier to work in and more flexible. was a mission when i did my aorus Xfire in it lol

OP, thought about Vega 56 flashed to 64 bios and 144hz 1080p Freesync screen? can be had for the price between a 1080 & Ti if you havent got a monitor to drive the GTX 1080

Pure Base 600 is an amzing case, plus its less than £70 for a tempered glass case, which is quiet as a graveyard... its gotta be one of the top 5 cases out there.. FTW!
