Here is the current setup, I measured it all and promptly got drunk and lost the details
fairly sure it was 3.9m to the screen, I was also discussing with the chaps last night that the screen is ancient as well, have there been any screen advances in the last few years which would mean we should invest in a new one?
thanks again
Haha, well that is what a pub is for!
react 2.0 screen but maybe out of budget range, i've got an optoma hd 50 and it's watchable in sunlight (my screen is directly opposite a large south facing window)
I'd also recommend this (as I own one), but it's way out of budget.
A circa 108" electric tab tensioned Draper Screen with React 2.1 surface will be a good £1500+, so that's the whole budget blown.
A second hand screen might be a better choice, have a looky on avforums. But then it's a hassle to collect/have delivered down to where you are Will.
The screen in the pub looks tiny! With it's location and that of the projector also, shifting it over to fit in a larger screen could involve some effort. If you leave the socket for the projector where they are then shifting the mount to the right might let you fit in the 120" screen.
So given the budget, which is 1500 quid ish, could you please pick a screen and a projector to keep me and my rugby fans happy?
Going from your measurements in the OP it's a 92" screen (if my trigonometry is right

). But it looks to be more like a 4:3 screen, so you'll be losing out even more with a widescreen broadcast!
There's a guy on avforums selling a hardly used EPSON EH-TW7200 for £1000, that would be a good buy if it is as low on the hours usage as he says it is. There are also a few people selling Grandview / Sapphire (same thing) electric 106" screens for £250-350. A 120" would be better for a pub if you can fit it in!
Brand new 120" screen £799:

Then look at a projector for around £600-800. It's a pub, so a fancy home cinema projector isn't needed with good blacks or shadow detail, you just want it to work well with sports and give a good image with motion.
Will take a looky later at throw distances (if I don't get drunk on fun at work), but second hand gets you a lot more value!
