172 or Integra ?

Can't say much for the Integra, but a friend has a 172 Cup and they are fast little cars. Especially considering the price you can pick one up for second hand.

i dont get it, whats all the complaints about cabin noise in a tegy? didnt you watch spinal tap? turn the volume up to 11 and ROCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

-what engine noise?

Straight line, the Teg is quicker (187/198 bhp UKDM/JDM). I think it's a little lighter also. It's also much quicker round bends, and generally quicker all round.

To be honest i'd say there was very little in it. If anything a 172 Cup may be slightly faster.

If you read the other 172 thread and the Top Gear shoot out that was posted, the Clio laps slightly quicker than the Teg on the track that was used in that shoot out. Im sure there will be other shoot outs were the Teg is faster than the Clio.

Little difference between the two in terms of performance, but, only one car laughs in the face of daily abuse.

The itr would be quicker in the dry, the re010s suck in the wet. I hate that article because now everyone thinks 172 clios are faster than tegs :P I get about 36mpg from mine and do 90 miles a day in it. Noise is fine and the comfort is fine. I had the AC stripped out of mine but havent really needed it yet but I imagine on a really hot day it wouldnt be the most comfortable (the recaros are really close fitting and make you sweaty if its hot).

Yeah, but shouting "you stupid french pos" every morning does not count as abuse :D

I doesn't? :( I'll really give it some stick tomorrow then, that'll learn it :p

I'm only playing, the Tegs are obviously build to take more stick than the Clios, I've just been lucky with mine, I think (maybe the early ones were built better?).

tbh when I bought it the choice was between a couple of cars including the teg, it was a case of the first decent one to crop up of either won as I needed a car. Still, a DC5 will probably be next :p

I thought the lap times and acceleration tests were done in the dry. (Second text column 5th image "Unwelsh dryness").

Wow this thread has arisen from the dead... i think u have to factor in clio's are 'dime a dozen' and ITR are very rare. and to be is a great sight to see a well kept ITR.

If you want to stand out and be unique get a ITR. thats where my money would go if given the choice. Although i've had a 1.2 clio for 7 years they are decent cars.

Yea everyone who I know who has owned one says they are awesome little cars. And no denying they are quick to. I like the exclusivity of the itr though but i guess that comes at a premium - I dunno whether the teg is 2-3k better than a 172 clio?

I always thought the ITR looked fairly bland, it has that nondescript random Jap coupe look about it.

Thats what I like about it. Only people who are really into cars know about them, or even know what they are. I still get - "is that a civic" from the local chavs when I fill up the car :p But then you get the real enthusiasts who want to talk to you for ages about them aswell which is cool as I always like talking to people who are into cars.

I've never thought the ITR as looking bland, sure they aren’t the prettiest of cars but compared to something like a clio they are far from bland, a clio is bland an ITR is different.

What about cabin noise @ 70/80 on the motorway though? I've not been in an Integra, but I wouldn't have thought it would be great?

Whereas I didn't find the Clio too bad, better than mine at least

Get some earplugs ? :)

And how many BMW drivers can you chat to about their cars ? ;)

I say go for the Teg, but I'm biased as I plan to own one in a few years time.
