or

i quite like "o! k!" If you type that in ventrilo it comes up with a really sarcastic long and drawn out o...........k! very amusing

I tend to use '...' when I'm insinuating something and trailing off. Its one of the ways of imitating some of the subtleties lost in the translation from speech to text.

I have a simple technique. If someone can't be bothered to take a bit of time to present a post, I can't be bothered to read it.

I looked at the post you linked to, and I agree .... it's terrible.

But, rather than get in a lather about it, I just move on. I don't bother struggling to read it.

I use "...." from time to time, as in the example above. I think it helps convey meaning which, in that example, is a bit like the equivalent of a dramatic pause in a spoken conversation. Grammatically, it isn't quite right, but then, this is a forum and I don't really give a hoot about technical grammar. What I care about is whether the post communicates what was intended or not?

So while I agree with you that the style you linked to is horrible, I can't say it bothers me, because I don't bother reading it. I just click and move on.
