i went to a catering exhibition the other year, and the stand (sebor absinthe) were *cough* forcing *cough* us to drink it. you put crushed ice in the bulb, top it up with absinth, and pull it through the finely crushed ice. this too is a very pleasureable way to drink it.

oh, anybody tried the black absinthe??

EDIT: damn. just had a look on the site at the prices £58 per bottle. i have been ordering it straight from the woman (the one at the show) for £22 delivered. i think if i had to pay full wack i would not be drinking so much of it

Yeah, i used to have a Dutch mate, Vince, used to drink it all the time and be constantly tripping out. Cut his own ear off and stuff, and eventually shot himself.

you wont, there is too much alcohol to notice if you are actually haluucinating, becasue your drunk it would seem reality anyway, and if it didnt you wouldnt remeber when sober, buy wormwood oil

Is it not true, that you cannot sell anything over 10mg in shops or bars, but you are allowed to import it if you arent selling it. Thus i can buy 111mg absinthe?

La fee is one of the best all-round absinths, though hills is a personal preference I think it is something you have to try if you're a bit of an absinth fan. I used to be able to get hills locally until the wine merchants shut down.

and the king of absinths stuff is nice, but again the thujone concentrate is 100mg, but you still wouldnt even know if you were hallucinating.

ppl asking about absinth/e crops up regular here.

1. absinthe will not make you hallucinate ,you most you will get from it is a feeling of being a sober sort of drunk.

2. absinthe will kill you in the sense that any other alcohol will kill you if you drink enough of it.

3. as already stated absinthe has never been illegal in this country,it just fell out of popularity.

4. tales of ppl cuting off various body parts is probably true ,tho this had nothing to do with the ingrediants of proper absinthe itself but the fact that unscrupulous ppl who made it used to add copper sulphate or anti-nony salts to give it the green colour and turbidity (louche) that real absinthe has resulting in poisoning the drinker.

Given a high enough thujone level its a possibility you would hallucinate.

And the wormwood in it not only provided part of its green colour and a characteristic bitter taste, but also thujone, an hallucinogen that is a relative of the active ingredients in cannabis.

It really depends on how strong wormwood is, having never tried it i dont know its effects.
