thujone is not an hallucinogen its classed as a narcotic analgesic in the books i have , other ingredients in the recipe can be hallucinogenic in high enough quantity's but you would have to fill the bottle with them, over 15 yrs ive drunk a lot of absinthes and made my own from natural wormwood and essential oils without the thujone removed, you have to distill it.

Was out shopping before and inspired by this thread I've bought a bottle of absinthe, although won't be trying it till some time next week.

If anyone is interested in a cheap spoon from la fee: http://www.lafeeabsinthe.com/offers :) You can get the special spoon for £3 deliered which is ok I guess.

Bought some la fee with spoon for £37inc delivery. Initially was going to cost £42, but they have a 15% offer during January.

Going to buy some King of Absinthe soon though.

lolz loving all the zomg I drink absinth I will hallucinate.... the stuff has that much alcohol in it that by the time you even get close to enough wormwood in you, you would have drunk so much alcohol you will be gettin intimately aquainted with your toilet!

Yes it seems to further research that thujone is actually not hallucinogenic, neither is it a close cousin of THC, that is also wrong.
Its even been shown that a high content of thujone does nothing but cause epileptic fits in most cases.
Even old bottle tested from the 18c were found to have as little as 6-7mg of thujone in them. So as to think that the bottle i saw for sale with 111mg, was either a con, or would have some nasty side effects.

Indeed. The research I've been involved in with regards to this particular class has shown very low / little toxic effect in the lab. Saying that, it's not just the toxicity you have to worry about, it's all the associated problems that go with it. ie. what happens to you whilst on a trip, not the pharmacodynamics, more so what you could physically do. Though, I am sure you more than aware of this ;)

i thought the only reason absinthe was said to be hallucinogenic was to increase its sales because it was droping in popularity, and the fact that its a strange green colour with unusual ingredients people proberly belived it and got a placebo effect because they belived in it.

I guess one thing that causes people to mistake absinthe for a hallucinogen these days is the movie 'eurotrip' since that had absinthe in it at one point that caused some weired effects.
