Looking to get someone a bottle of 18 year old whiskey for their 18th birthday.

anyone got any reasonably priced suggestions?

Regards

Jack Daniels and Southen Comfort are the only whiskeys I can think of

Jack Daniels is the only whiskey you can think of. Southern Comfort is a liqueur.

The Glenlivet 18yo is the cheapest 18yo I can think of. Quite a light taste too so if your friend isn't a massive whisky drinker it's not a bad choice.

You'd be better off getting 18 year old Whisky.

Or is that 18 yr old girls? I can never remember which is cheaper, or goes down easier...

Main question would be do they actually like Whisky?

The Glenlivet 18 would be a fantastic choice and isn't too pricey :)

She likes whiskey yes, but her tipple is usually stuff like paddy . :p I'll search the Glenlivet 18 now, thanks.

Mmmm, 18 year old....sorry :D

Talisker is an outstanding whisky

Also consider Glenmorangie, Macallan or Glenlivet.
Avoid blends, although it is all according to personal taste ;)

Price is my main concern, bugger quality. Just want the gimmick of being 18yrs old and her liking of whiskey.

Do you know what whisky she drinks at the moment then? Theres quite a difference between american whiskeys and Scotch

Anything from the Aberlour distillery will be good.
I've had the 12yr old, 15yr old and A'bunadh (this stuff is amazing) and they are all very good if you're into sweeter more floral whiskies. I'm sure their 18 year old will be good. It's matured in sherry cask so it will be sweet. It's not too expensive as well.

I've had Highland Park 18 and that's good. My mate seems to love it.

I've also had the 12, 15 and 18 year old Glenlivet's as a taster pack. The 15 was by far the best but none of them were great.

I'd get the 18 year old Aberlour for £50. It's probably the cheapest one I've mentioned and I reckon it will be good, if not very good. http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-7620.aspx

He's buying it for an 18 year old woman. They'll say thanks, take a swig and spit it out on the floor in disgust. Later when smashed they might sample some more and end up ****ing themselves.

Ahhh to be 18 again.

Hmmm buying for a girl? not a good idea, I don't know any girls who drink whiskey. Maybe a bottle of Malibu would be better

She likes whiskey, it's her usual drink of choice, so no malibu thanks. She usually drinks Paddy, though it's usually whats available in the house. Eg nothing to posh, but definitely whiskey. :p
