18 yr old whiskey?

Glenlivet 18y is probably the best option unless you want to spend more.

Aberlour 18 Year Old would be next on my list then Caol Ila 1991 / 18 Year Old and then Laphroaig 18 Year Old.

There are a lot of nice ones around the £80 mark.
Hope your not planning on doing this again for her 21st, i got a bottle of Lagavulin 21year old for mine, see how much that costs.

Just got somit that can be disguised as 18yr old that way just grab somit online that isnt in shops usually. Maybe one of them special jack daniel versions?

Tbh dont buy any of the "aged" stuff i reckon just a gimmick. Its just a drink. Few drinks and its gone. Defo not worth spending over £20 for a bottle. Highly doubt a 18yr old women would care if its 18 years or last years.

Probs get flamed for that but dont care. :p

Gluck with ur search.

Edit - Next time buy a bottle of somit in the shops when you have a baby and when its 18 you can give that to them. Save you a canny bit in future if you try to do it with another kid. ;)

This would be an excellent plan if it wasn't for the fact that whisky doesn't "age" in the bottle. You would end up with an 8/10/12/whatever year old whisky that was bottled 18 years ago.

In that case buy a bottle and open it and pop it in a casket from ebay or somit and "age" it that way. :p

Pff aged tho. Still think its a load of rubbish. :D

Those that complain about whiskey and whisky, really? It is the same drink, go to a bar and ask for whiskey and you will get a whiskey does not matter how it is spelled as the bar man just hears "whisk ee". :p

begone! this thread is not for you! :p :D

Seriously though, there is a difference between Whisky and Whiskey, just like there's a (huge) difference between 8, 10, 12, 15, 16, 18, 21 and older Whiskys.

if you don't think so that's fine, but this probably isn't a good place for you to be voicing that opinion :p ;)

Have you ever tried different aged whisky's? There's generally quite a difference in flavour.

As for the op I'd go with everyone else's recomendation of the 18 year old Glenlivet as it's nice and smooth but fairly bland, £32 in Tesco's at the moment as well. For something that actually tastes great I'd pick a 18 year ol Coal ila but they're £70 or so.

Yea, you're gonna get flamed... If you like whisky, there's a massive difference to taste as whiskies mature, and an 18-year old is noticeably different to a (say) 12-year old. But if you don't like whisky, then you'll hate it anyway, and it's an expensive gift - can't see it costing under £50. And most people, and nearly all women, don't like whisky. I understand the symbolism, but it does seem wasted on the target audience.

Idiot.

There, you got a response now you can clear off and stop trolling the thread.

OP.
You're looking at a minimum of about £40 for 18yo whisky.
The Glenlivet that has already been suggested is a good whisky at the lower end of the price range (just under £40). Whisky exchange has 18yo (1990) Glenrothes on offer for £39.95 http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-10108.aspx - this is an excellent whisky and well worth considering.

If you want to spend some more, we can take you through a few more but I get the impression you're aiming at the lower end of the price range.
