prices on the 5870 1gig model will be between £250-300 tops.
and all they have in stock at the minute is 5850 1gig models and 5870 1gig models.

also the cards will not be released on the 22nd of september or the 23rd of september.
ati / amd have given them a date of 14th of october to be able to sell the cards.

If this is true - sucks major balls. Will they at least become available for pre-order on the 22nd?? Will they be on the website? Why would OCUK (and other retailers) receive stock of the cards today if they're not allowed to sell them for another month??

Does not add up.
 
well with all the second guessing, the alleged pricing info and the mods doing their best to confuse us...I say for those of us who can wait, will wait to see what prices are like...for me personally it's all about the 5870X2...and even if that card costs £500...rest assured muggins here will buy it :D
 
Id stretch to £600 for a x2 but not going to wait till end of october.Plenty of nice hifi things ill get instead if they wont be for sale for a month.
 
Maybe they just got the first shipment and are being told to wait until more come in so AMD can keep their promise about availability?

That sounds silly now that I've wrote it out. :p
 
yeah at least OCUK could take the cards out of the boxes and show pictures, thats not breaking NDA cause we allready know what the cards look like and specs apart from 100% prices

i wanna see the diffrent types of stickers lol

but if the 14th is true on the 22nd and we find out that it is i will be unholy ****ed.

oh jeez not that scam again, tempt everyone with a 1gig and then release 2gig couple of months later to rake in more cash.

I believe they do something similar each major release. A thread like this generally does mean that they do infact have the cards.

It is just a bit of harmless fun and add's to the hype which is both good for OCUK's sales and good for the customer for fun/speculation.

Probably not going to buy one on launch personally. I might wait to see what Nvidia do and wait for the price to settle down a tad.
