:)

or until the ivy chip comes out :P...

good job

No. Ivybridge will be capped to 4 cores on 1155, and X79 costs too much.

Ive already been tempted with sandybridge but I want to downgrade my mobo.

The gains would be small, I used S939 for almost 6 years until the E8400, and then the I7 920.

3.8? er so what? lol

I only got it today, I was ocing at stock volts. This thing is awesome compared to my previous chis, and as for sandybridge CPUs, LOL Z68.

I would have to have a Rampage 4 extreme / formula and nothing less, but that stuff is way too expensive, so instead I got this :)

Hmmm, so my ram will run safely at 1866 Mhz 7-8-7-24 @ 1.65v at 133 BCLK, but I cant seem to get those settings stable while also OCing the CPU!

Ok, heres all the frequencies it will work at:

4 Ghz on stock volts (<70 degrees)
4.333 Ghz on 1.325v (<85 degrees)
4.5 Ghz on 1.38v (one core reached 100 degrees, my Antec Kuhler H2O 620 isnt enough).

All stable at 180 BCLK and 1800 Mhz ram @ 7-8-7-24-1T :)

4.333 is fast enough, if I ever want to push it to 4.4 Ghz+ I will need a better cooler.

Eventually, not right now, I gotta buy one of the Adata 120 Gb SSDs first.

4.560 Ghz unstable at 1.4v, so 4.5 Ghz @ 1.38v was the highest it went (I dont want to go over 1.4v) - Prime 95 and Super Pi were running for over 30 mins before one core reached 100 and its worker stopped.

Ah, yea that wouldnt be any better than my 620 since its currently using two silent Xigamatec fans, but the air coolers are massive and bulky.

.... What about that diamond thermal paste, will it make any difference over my MX3?

If you're hitting 100 degrees at those volts you NEED custom water, air will never be anywhere near good enough. I'd start saving now if I were you

The Phankeks are a lot better than my H20 620 though:

http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/phanteks_ph_tc14pe_cpu_cooler_review,13.html

But its too expensive to bother with over my current one, I only got the Kuhler H20 620 because it was under £50, and better than my old Asus Triton 88.

I'm just going to leave it at 4333 Mhz, thats plenty enough :)

Would a 920/H80 be good enough for a 2700k @ 4.8? Prolly throw some Vipers on there and grab a raven 2.

Thanks ;)

They probably would granted you had a good chip but the end cost would be far too high for what you get. The vipers might end up making the unit slightly quieter but won't make a massive difference in cooling. As such, an air cooler would still be better and quieter.

Not significantly enough.

Cheers dude, yeah i'll see how I go @ 4.5 seeing as I have the Vengeance ram.

I fixed my temperatures :)

At first they were going up to 99 degrees in Linx at these same settings and my PC crashing around test 8-10:

What I did was move my third Xigmatek fan from my graphics cards intake to use as a top case fan intake blowing onto the CPU area, and then the H2O 620 has two Xigmatecs exhausting in a push / pull setup.

So three of these fans, - one as an intake, and two on the radiator exhausting + an Antec H2O 620 is epic:

Maybe I should buy another two for my intake fans? They are completely silent and push loads of air.

I would love to see you put that chip under custom water :)

I am selling my entire setup soon, so, if you want an insane OC... ;)
