Why would anyone buy a 980ti with the new cards on the horizon ? Unless it's a silly price of £249.99 (yeah I wish) !

In the same way that the 980 and 970 weren't an enormous step up from the 780 and 780ti, the first batch of the new cards are likely to be incrementally better. Then, there'll be a 500 page thread proclaiming them to be the new 8800gtx because of a 5% performance increase over the previous generation. Eventually the full speed versions of the new tech will come in 2017, finally superseding the 980ti.

It's a new die shrink. It'll be more then you think.

5.1%? :)

Don't forget youll probably get more vram and a bigger epeen too. I wonder if theyre gonna upgrade the 970 equivalent from 3.5g to 4g or just go straight to 8g.

I think competition might drive a larger jump on the first release of the products. If competition is lacking, we'll be drip fed tiddler versions of the new cores until the full fat versions are released later to force early adopters to upgrade again.

Wait could this be true. Nvidia are releasing a driver that ****ing works for once and doesn't require a hot fix. Thanks for the ;) you've confirmed everything.

That thread is testament to the NV brainwashing field's existence.
