I've been waiting for this day since Polaris was confirmed it wasnt a flagship model, I cant feel excited about it anymore though and happy to continue waiting for AIB cards, looking forward to reading reviews but if the 56 isn't a decent step up from my Fury for £400 or less then my Vega money is getting spent on something else

Hey, new poster here (but been reading a while).... Correct me if I'm wrong, but we're not expecting the 56 to surface today are we? Just the various 64 models?

Correct, I believe it's August 28th for Vega 56, though you I'd expect to see reviews for the card popping up before then, if not in with the Vega 64 reviews today.

That's because it is the only one worth having... well compared to the others at least.

Most likely.

But with no available stock?

You are acting surprised - even the HD7900 series was reviewed before stock was available(IIRC). The release of the card is the 28th,so two weeks away.

I mean then you get the "hard launches" were basically only a few cards are actually available, and you have to wait weeks(or even longer) for cards.

Both AMD and Nvidia are guilty of that.

Thats actually a bad sign. It means they know the 64 is underwhelming and they need the 56 to salvage the launch.
Remember in the other thread a few weeks ago,I said that the Vega64 water cooled editon was not massively more powerful whilst registering a massive TDP increase??

The TDP of the Vega56 is only 35W more than an RX580. If you look at the 14NM process node AMD is using, its shared with Ryzen. Look what happens when you push it to the edge - power consumption goes through the edge. Look at even the Ryzen 7 1700 against the Ryzen 7 1800X for example,or when you overclock any of them to the edge.

However,at more saner clockspeeds it is very efficient,so unless AMD has screwed up Vega56 as well,I expect it to look much better in terms of performance/watt.

Unless I'm mistaken, everyone has said no 56 stock? I find it bizarre and would be surprised for a launch to be brought forward without stock.

Usually you get your flagship launching, then later the second tier. Usually they never launch together

They're not launching together. Vega 56 was brought forward to 28th August.
