18th, 19th and 20th Footy - CL and UEFA Cup *spoilers* galore! - Nedved still off

We missed too many chances tonight, but I'd have taken 1 - 0 before the kick off and restricted them to very little.

I don't know if any of their booked players will miss the second leg, but here's hoping.

Raise your glasses to the squirrel, star of the show. :D

I think it is only Tacchinardi who misses the return.

I hope we get the same sort of ref as tonight who won't stand for them falling to the ground every time there is any contact. I think it's only Toure and Flamini on yellows and I would hate to see them miss out if we get through.

Squirrel was quality, spent a whole 20 minutes on the pitch! I really wanted Jens to stamp on it!

Wasn't the best game, rally wanted another goal, and really had the chance too. I don't think either side as well as they could, but it's another clean sheet :)

And Kolo 'God' Toure scores his first Highbury goal, what timing. I want his babies.

Sky made it sound like a 1-0 win was a bad result, Personally I think a clean sheet and a goal is a very good result....
Sky annoyed me no end on commentary tonight. They seemed to think that because we didn't walk Villa(real) that we must therefore have been playing terribly. But not only have they been stupidly flattering to us (we're not the best team ever, we just had three very good games against two big teams), it's also pretty disrespectful to a very decent Spanish side. Not the flashiest or most attacking no, but solid, organised and aware. They might not have won many games to get here, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve.

But yeah, I thought we were still good, and the better side of the two, so to call us rubbish like they did was stupid.

Great match lastnight.

Noticeable performances from Gilberto and Toure, Eboue looked good again but made a few 'slips' that could have got us into trouble. Henry looked too relaxed at times..Hleb, the contrary. Villarreal played far far better than Juve did at Highbury but still failed to work anything more than a 30 yard shot or 2.
Gilberto did a great job of containing Riquelme..he had no influence on the game whatsoever, not doubting he's got skills but, dissappointing for me. El Madigral may be a tough atmosphere but 25,000 is hardly The Bernabeu so we should have no issues.
