1password or keyword access or neither?

So what happens if you're at a machine that isn't on your sync list?

Example: I visit a friend's house and want to log in to Gmail.

I've installed 1Password for my father so he can just click-and-go without having to remember different passwords, but I didn't really test it enough to decide if I should install it. Apologies if it's a noob question.

You open a free dropbox account and store the agile keychain in there.

That way you can access your passwords via dropbox web interface and access your passwords in 1password through the web interface build in to the keychain.

So as long as you have internet access you can access any of your passwords.

Well seeing as the "1Password Pro" iPhone app is free I may just do that.

Shame MobileMe sync is not 100% or I'd use that.

I use 1Password - great software and as everyone has said already it's genius when used with iPhone and dropbox .. the webpage interface to retrieve your passwords from non Mac PCs on dropbox is also first class.

..20% off the regular $39.95 price if you use the coupon code 'islayer' too :D

Cheers,
A

I've started using 1Password after coming from Roboform for the PC and for me it doesn't beat it. I just wish they would hurry up and get Roboform for Mac finished and out. Once t is done I'd say go for Roboform all the way.

Thanks for that! I'm working my way through my 30 day eval and using the iPhone App with my Agile Keychain on my DropBox it is proving to be a great secure password tool. 20% off would be great!

N00b alert: You'd still have to trawl through all your accounts and "change password" to a secure 1Password-generated one before it's any use.

Unless I'm missing something..

It can store your current password if you want it to, however if you want a super secure password (all mine are 22 characters +) you will need to generate one then change your password to that. Logg off, log pack on with the new password (1password saves it) and then save the new login in 1password.

Well that's what I do!

I have 3 different passwords I use.

2 are short 8 character randoms, and 1 is a 64 character WPA2 key ( )

Would take a LONG time for me to go through and change all my logins.

Then don't od them all at once! I've not done any of my Google passwords nor have I done my WPA2 key but then that is quite secure anyway!

You open your drop box and inside the 1password folder (windows sees the package as a folder) you open the html file and enter your master password and Bob is your Uncle you have access to your 1password logins.

Simples.

What he said! Very cool feature indeed IMO.

...also it can be done from both your online dropbox (via website) and from the dropbox folder on your PC/Mac - on a Mac you need to right click>Show package contents to see the html file.

I couldn't get the .html to open with IE 7 though, could just be my PC though. Works fine with Firefox.

Yeah IE7 at work refuses to open the 1Password file. Firefox is fine though!

In EVH's situation, I just use the iPhone app and retrieve the login for the page I want and type the required password.

Generally if it's a computer I don't have 1P installed on, I don't want the computer to remember the password anyway...
