There is absolutely no need to buy a GTX480 for gaming, anyone that does is a serious fanboy. £150 over a 5870 for what?

2x 5850s are where it's at in terms of price/performance ratio.

Even then I believe the 5800s are overpriced.

For a price/performance standpoint I definately agree but people will still buy these cards out of brand loyalty + specific game titles being faster on an nvidia card or even not having an xfire mobo. The list of reasons goes on!

For most people just reading "faster single core graphics card" is enough for them to part with the cash nowadays.

I myself wont be selling my 5870 for one of these as by the looks of the power draw I'd need ANOTHER new psu (lol) plus the temps on the 480 are abit worrying at full load.

When the 440 and other lower range cards come out the market will get really interesting as they should be very attractive vs a 5770 for example

Just bought a 470. Why? I do Gaming, but I also need a card that can work with Autodesk Maya properly. ATi cards are crippled in drivers, so you have to buy the FireGL. Nvidia do not cripple their drivers. Therefore I get both a fast Gaming card, and a workstation card in one.

Until ATi stop crippling their drivers for 3D work, I'll have to buy Nvidia. Not a fan boy - I used to buy ATI till I saw the crippling on a £200 quid ATi card.

Fair do's m8, I'm sure there will be a few peeps similar to you in that respect. Enjoy the new card
