As far as I'm concerned this can only be a good thing. I think it'll take a good year or so for us to notice any thing different, he has to bring in his assembly into check, assign roles & responsibilities as he sees fit, changes won't happen over night. Either way that quasi-communist dictator is now out of the picture. I reckon Borris is a lot more intelligent than people give him credit for, to be an MP you have to be relatively bright compared to the ill-educated scum that KL is, even if the decisions they make aren't always the best ;)

Ill-educated scum? He knows London rather better than Boris Johnson wouldn't you say? He also has great experience and proven expertise in managing projects and getting things done. What organisational experience does Johnson have in comparison?

For someone that lives and works in London, this is a bad thing.

If you look at most of the "Go Boris" posts, the majority are from out of London.

Ken did a great job, all candidates acknowledged that. Travel has improved, the Oyster Card has made my life so much easier, I feel safer in London today than I did 10 years ago. London now feels like one of the greatest cities in the world, it certainly never use to.

Perhaps if Ken gave more speeches like last night then he would still be Major. Boris was disjointed and looked like a right fool, what have you done?!?

You see James I don't feel that way at all - I feel like London's not as safe, dirtier, more expensive (though not necessarily owing the ****face Ken), and generally less pleasant. I remember it being much much better and I'd defend London all night long (despite being a Froggy Cypriot!) - however now, I rip into London and hate it. I'm still here because I have my friends/family here, and a good job, but I live away from central london as far as I can do so sensibly and try not to go into town if I Can avoid it. It's just not a pleasant place to be anymore, the people are more and more apathetic, aggressive and depressed. It's not a nice placeto be at the moment :(

just like the huge percentage of workers and daily commuters that are essential in Londons status as 'one of the greatest cities'.

Fair enough mate :) Though London is nice now the sun's shining - as soon as I finish the emails I shall be going out burning some fossil fuels :D

I guess it just shows the split that London has, and we're obviously on different sides of that split, I'm sure we have some friends on both sides, and some even in a different mindset completely. Either way we all contribute to London and it's all our own responsibility to try and improve this city - unfortunately there's only so much we can do without the help of policies and the support of the politicians including the GLA. Let's hope they can do things to improve your trust/hope in them whilst not letting people like me (who voted them in) down! :)

How about that for an even and rational view point? :D

Yes but that's all it is commute and even then most of the posts are far Northern.

Boris is now in control of London, it will affect people that live here 24/7 far more.

If only everyone that voted was like you then I wouldn't have been so bothered by Boris winning.

When people vote for someone in politics because he was "funny" on Have I Got News For You and is a "legend" (how I don't know) which I've been told by people on more than one occasion.

That's why I am concerned for London. Whether you hated Ken and is his personality, he did have London at heart and did a great job.
