hi
im looking at the intel 330 128 gb at £100 . im only on sata 2 ( x58) . would it be a waste of money to but a sata 3 controller or what . not really sure what to do .

cheers

yea there quite popular at the moment . would the 840 pro 256 be wasted on my system at £190 or should i be looking at sata 2 only . i wont be upgrading cpu/mobo for maybe another 2 years

cheers

I looked into this before deciding to upgrade my mobo.

I decided that I may aswell get the sata 3 SSD as it was gonna give me a huge perfomance gain and be ready for when I did upgrade.

The Samsung 840 pro is the one to go for!

am i right in saying that an average sata 2 drive wont saturate sata 2 bandwidth but an average sata 3 drive will . therefore am i better off getting a sata 3 drive .
cheers

You get a sata 3 drive because it's more recent and therefore has updates making it more reliable. It's not really anything to do with which version of sata it has.

so you dont get a sata 3 drive because they are faster and im sure not all sata 3 drives are more reliable than sata 2 drives .

if your not planning on upgrading your mb soon then id choose a sata2 ssd, unless you can grab a cheapish sata3

the samsung 840 non pro model would be a decent choice or a crucial m4,again it depends on how cheap you can get one for
