I'm looking at buying a new 1TB drive as I'm running out of space! Was just wondering if there are any new products coming out in the near future that might be worth hanging around for, either by being good or causing a drop in price of the existing stuff?

If not, what drive would you suggest? I'm after 1TB for as cheap as possible.

The Samsung F2 is a tenner cheaper than everything else, but it's out of stock and is only a 5400rpm. Is this too slow? I'm only using the drive for storage so don't think it'd be that noticeable?

If that's a no go then it looks like it's between the WD Caviar Green (32mb) or the Samsung F3. Thoughts?

Thanks for any help.

if you are gona be using it purely for storage then droyden is right, 5400rpm vs 7200 rpm wont mean anything really. 5400rpm are less powr hungry and supposed to last longer.

I don't know about new drives on the horizon but I've just swapped 2 Seagate 7200.10 for 2x 1TB Samsung F3 drives and I'm very impressed with them.

I got two maxtor deskstar 1tb,two western digital green 1tb's and 3 seagate 160's the 160's are by far the fasted drives out of all of them but the green is also very good very silent and uses the least power plus it pulls the least power :P
