2.4Ghz Conroe runs Super Pi

Amd Need to drop the prices on those X2 chips or there could be trouble
as conroe will be cheaper than an X2 3.8

think that conroe chip is around the $300 mark when released in june.

dont get your hopes up, if I remember corrrectly as is Intel's way these days, the mobo's are said to be frighteningly expensive

an earlier post on here stated around the £200 mark

Funny that... seeings as any new P4 motherboard (with the revised power circuitry) supports Conroe. Seriously, £200 is server/workstation pricing. £100 is consumer and £150 is enthusiast. You'll be able to pick up Conroe boards well under £100 no problems.

I've always been a bit of an AMD fanboy but after seeing this article AnandTech did, I think I will be purchasing one of these if AMD can't come up with anything better.

CPU price is up and its been revised downwards!

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=1619

E6700 (2.67Ghz) = $530 Approx £353 (1.5 average UK exchange rate)
E6600 (2.40Ghz) = $316 Approx £210 (1.5 average UK exchange rate)
E6400 (2.13Ghz) = $244 Approx £163 (1.5 average UK exchange rate)
E6300 (1.86Ghz) = $209 Approx £140 (1.5 average UK exchange rate)

If these get the usual $-£ approx 1.5 conversion rate then as you can see stunning prices for the power on display. Who in their right mind would want a £500-750 AMD CPU now.

Looks as though Intel are going straight for the AMD jugular!

I was going to place an order for a dual core cpu today, but by the looks of things it looks like I'll be going back to Pentium. The Price/Performance is too good to justify upgrading to another AMD upgrade, shame really.

Haven't had a Pentium system since Pentium II were all the go lol  IF there as stable as they was back then, then I'll be very happy.

ok just trawled the thread at xs for 32m pi results - 23m30s

which aint too shabby for the stock 2.4ghz. here are the top scores from ocuk users.....
