hey all would it be ok for me to have a WD raptor for my OS and games.. and use a slower, bigger hdd for storing all my other data...

the 2 drives would be:
Western Digital Raptor
Western Digital Caviar SE16

Yes, that would be fine...I would make 2 partitions on the Raptor, one (for XP - 15GB, Vista - 25GB) for your OS, and use the other partiton on it for installing and running your games from.....someone else I am sure will have a different opinion. :)
 
Depends which Raptor he gets. I wouldn't partition the 37GB one; just wouldn't be an efficient use of space. The other 2 should be fine.
 
I only mentioned as I had the 37GB for 5 years in the setup Sparkie proposed. What with game install sizes these days, 74GB would be the one to go for I reckon (if being solely used for os/programs/games).
