Depends on the context surely? Let us not forget that animals do not always give accurate results as to the toxicity of drugs which can then be used for humans.

No, torture is torture. Doing it to people you dislike or find morally reprehensible doesn't give you some new moral authority that makes it ok.

By a long time I assume you mean 'never'.

Computer moddelling will never be able to accurately portray something as phenomenonally intricate as the inner workings of a cell, let alone how cells work together. Even if it can approximate, it could never give proof or evidence which animal testing could.

Its a lovely thought that one day we will not have to use animal testing, but until the days we fly around in transportation tubes, its not remotely possible

I mean exactly that a long time. In a few hundred years we probably will be able to model the human body.

Maybe a silly quesion, but in the future can't these sort of things be tested with cloned organs/body parts etc?

I was going to add 'you can never say never' but it doesn't seem an appropriate thing to say to the situation based on our current abilities. Unless you are assuming that our technology is improving as such a rate that by then we are likely to improve our understanding to a cell to absolute.

The words in bold are why I refrained from making such a comment. But you are right... you can 'never say never'.
 
Not absolute understanding. But an understanding which is as good as animal testing. As that is 100% accurate either.

animals should not have anywhere near the same consideration as humans.
