2 new FarCry 2 videos.

Really? You sure? Farcry was made by Crytek... have I missed something here...

Farcry was made by Crytek, who went on to make Crysis. Ubisoft, who published the original game, kept the rights to the Farcry name, and they are making Farcry 2. Crytek and its tech is not involved with Farcry 2.

Taken with a pinch of salt. Remember the Crysis vid's and we all thought MINT... and although it's good, it didn't look the same when they made the end product. HOPEFULLY, this will be the same as it is in the vid's. :)

No it isn't, it runs mostly under 20 fps on medium/low for most people without a 8800 or equiv

What runs at under 20fps on medium/low on an 8800? on medium settings the minimum is far above 20fps if you a refering to crysis.

I got below from the farcry2 website:

Estimated Requirements
Details
The GC 07 demo was running on a beefed up Core 2 Duo and an 8800.
This was a pre-alpha showing meaning that the game will be even more optimized by the time it is released.
Clint Hocking (Creative Director) stated that the game will run on a fast single core cpu and a strong DX9 graphics card
Far Cry 2 seems to be in line with the estimated requirements for Crysis

With vids recorded off a monitor i think its slightly skewed as to how the game will look, in a lot of cases the way the camera pick the game up it looks a lot better than it actually is. I remember the first scanned screens of call of duty 2 and people thought it looked amazingly real and was using a modified doom 3 engine. As time progressed and proper screens came out it looked good but not to the extent of "omg that looks so real".

what i want to know is if you break stuff - trees, houses etc. and start fires. if you walk away and then come back later are they as you left them?

this game looks far better than crysis, crysis never really did anything for me.

Those videos look mighty impressive!

Looks like Far Cry 2 is going to be about the action and adrenaline rush more than anything. I've not really been keeping up to date on its progress at all, but now they really do have my ear.

Farcry2 is running of the same old farcry engine aswell?
I just went to Wiki to find out and it says this: -

Wikipedia said:
Far Cry 2 will not use CryTek's CryENGINE (from the original game) or CryENGINE2 (which is used in Crysis). Instead, Ubisoft has developed a new engine called Dunia, meaning "world" or "earth" in Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Urdu, Swahili and Malay languages.[3] The engine will take advantage of multi-core processors and support DirectX 9 as well as DirectX 10.[4] Only 2 or 3 percent of the original CryENGINE code is being re-used, according to Michiel Verheijdt, Senior Product Manager for Ubisoft Netherlands.[5]
I was pretty surprised about this as I assumed it would be CryEngine2.
