2 week old 360 now doesn't read disks :(

Yes you do. Dont bother getting disc replacements, lie and say you have already tried that. When they ask you about using the microsoft support lie and say you already did that.

I had 4 copies of GOW before I accepted defeat.

Get it changed in store, failing that Microsoft support. 2 week old i would use the shop rather than getting a refurb.

A little of googleing and I found this

1. Turn on 360 with no game in.
2. Eject tray at dash.
3. Put in game.
4. Press and hold X in middle of joypad.
5. Select turn off console, tray will close.
6. Wait a few seconds... you can hear the disk spinning.
7. Turn on console, by pressing and holding the X in the middle of joypad.

So take it in to the shop and tell them I already called Microsoft support and that they told me to go to the shop.

I have tried like 10 different games in it to no avail.

Does this mean I lose all my stuff I have downloaded?

Didn't work :(

you'll loose your stuff unless the store lets you keep your HD and give them the new one back instead.

i think that anything youve downloaded it tracked to your gamertag and should be free to re-download (not 100% sure on that)

I've not taken a console back for years, last one I had replaced was my mega drive.

They just replaced the console and might do the same for you. Whip the hard drive off before you take it in anyway, just in case.

Unlucky mate - yeah don't get fobbed off and just demand a replacement. I think the shop you bought it from won't let you keep the HDD whereas MS do. However, you will get a quicker turn around from the shop than MS. If the worst comes to the worst and you cant wait, buy a memory unit, at least this way you will get to keep all of your saves :(

Just got back, didn't even have the receipt and they couldn't find it on their system but they said they would swap it. Only problem is, I just took the 360 thinking I would keep my old box, but turns out I have to take it all back (pain in the arse)

So, Im back packing it all up, off again in a minute :o
