20 to old to go to uni?

My father-in-law is going to university for the first time this coming October, he's 64. He just spent a year doing his Leaving Certificate (equiv. A-levels from Ireland) and was accepted immediately into a politics/history/literature course. Now that's something to live up to. Plus he's a great guy.

Do it bud, *if you want to*, you won't regret it.

LOL my sister took a gap year and was practically 20 (well 4 months in was, on her first year). So there are plenty of 20 year olds due to many taking gap years.

nope theres people on my course who are 28 and 24 and we all get on brilliantly.

My boyfriend is 20 and starting back at uni aswell in september after quitting last year.

his mum went to uni when she was in her late 30s!

never too old

I started Uni when I was 23, had a great time :)

At the time I got a "mature student" grant which really helped make it affordable, I also worked in the holidays (but not in term time).

Surely 20 in in the age bracket of most people at uni?

From 18 onwards (including gap years etc).

I started uni at 19 and I was with some students who were coming up for 40. One student was in her 60s, which was great when we were discussing British social history of the 20th century as she'd lived through a lot of it :)

I was an old 19 yr old when I started as I had a Gap yr and was old for my year. You'll quickly find that your mates will most likely be mature for 18/19 or the same age as you. Although in 1st year, there's nowt wrong with being a bit immature. Especially in Freshers week

Blimey! Im starting Uni in september and im 35! There are loads of mature students across a wide range of courses. I said to the woman in admissions that i would be a mature student as im 35, she said "mature! thats nothing! there is a guy who is 63 in year 1 of your course"

Anyway im really looking forward to meeting lots of 19 years old girls, er i mean studying something that i love ;)
