I was thinking exactly the same thing. Comment was made last week that some cars were registering unusually low speeds because the speed trap was too close to the hairpin.

I would have thought that Montoya would be up there though, he's not known as an early braker.

Wow, big differences in speed at the speed trap, is it close to a braking point?

the really low speeds are from non completed laps in some case???

I guess some people were out on high fuel load / just to check the components were bedded in on the cars rather than for a high speed test run?

Anyway, I'm anoyed as I am going to manage to miss ALL of this weekend's coverage and there is no way I'll stay up late enough to catch the late full race replay.

Have a good weekend those that are going.

Second session has just finished and I bet MS is not a happy bunny....

Top of the timesheets early in the session he's just gone backwards in the last half hour. As expected McLaren are well up there with Renault and a (maybe, maybe not) surprising performance from the Toyota boys.

Remember all the commentary and bitching and backbiting that goes on here. :D

Should be good fun. :D

The speed is the fastest they measured so if they did a slow lap it wouldn't matter as they would have a faster time from a fast lap

Barrichello is 9th in lap time yet he is almost 20kmh slower at the speed trap, very strange, the only way that can be real is when the speed trap is at a braking point which means that if you brake (too) late in one lap it measures a faster speed.

Sorry Michael...you said something about slower drivers not paying attention a couple of races back?

Hopefully the Williams guys checked over the wing structure on Heidfelds car - last thing we need is the wing falling off.

Nice bit of news though...

Before the Race the FIA have announced a minutes silence for the victims of the Londom bombing this week.

Also Jordan have been running with a black nosecone in respect.

Just seen this on the Beeb

If the last paragraph isn't proof that Mad Max has lost the plot, I don't know what is!

Reminds me of the Klingon description of James T Kirk, in The Trouble with Tribbles:
"a swaggering, overbearing, tin-plated dictator with delusions of godhood"
:D

Aww naw! Kimi's blown another engine!

First lap out in Saturday Practice 2.

He'll at least have a decent shot at qualifying if they're going to go for a lap. The strategy on this one might be interesting though, Silverstone is not the worst circuit in the world for overtaking so starting from the back or high teens with full tanks might not be the worst option but I wouldn't be surprised if they go for a handful more laps than usual and aim for 11th-14th on the grid, same as last weekend.

Arse...

Arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, ARSE!

I have no idea what they will do here - there's not that much of an advantage to run long here...

Now doing the times btw...

The only good thing to come out of this morning is that MS is slow, has been since Friday morning and Barichello isn't looking too racy either. Could this be Bridgestone's lack of testing here showing through?

What we need is for Montoya and the Toyota boys to take some points off Alonso to keep Kimi in the hunt.

Anyone notice in that F1 insight - Most of the 'revolutionary' cars they showed were Lotus'

:D

Not that that shows who's come up with the best bits over the years. ;)
