2005 San Marino Grand Prix

Alonso is driving beautifully.
He has matured so well over the last couple of years. I think last year having a bad season did him a world of good. He learnt how to fight.

My view on the race.

Minardi - the new car looks good. Had been high up in the spped trap - think it needs a lot more work though.

Jordan - It's a sorry state of affairs for Jordan that Minardi get more press than them. Can't say anything about their race - didn't see bugger all of them.

Red Bull Racing - This is where I was expecting them to be at the beginning of the year. Hopefully they've got some developments coming soon. Coulthard had now been on top of his team mate for the past couple of races. Liuzzi's first race - beat Coulthard which I suppose in the circumstances was the best he could do.

Sauber - Villeneuve did well. Massa never recovered from his engine change. Very scrappy race for him.

Williams - Bad race for them - Just off the pace. Plus both their 1st drivers are nursing injuries.

Toyota - Well - they're still scoring points. Not a good race compared to current form - but compared to the previous years they're flying along. Best improved team this year so far.

McLaren - Shame about Kimi - he had the pace to win and was not happy with his driveshaft failure. Apparently he was on the same fuel load as Wurz. As for Wurz - he impressed me. Kept out of trouble and brought home a good result. Had the 3rd fastest lap as well. Especially good when you consider he was using de la Rosa's engine from Bahrain.

Ferrari - Well the F2005 isn't reliable yet. But it is much faster than it was last race. Anyone feel sorry for Barrichello - It's always his car. Schumacher had a very good and very lucky race. If he pitted a couple of laps earlier or later and he could have been stuck in traffic - we all saw how well he did with his brother, Button and Alonso.

Renault - Alonso has proven how good his is. Being able to withstand that pressure in a mis-handling car. Fisichella seems to be having a bad time at the moment. Don't know if anything broke but that was a bizzare accident.

Driver of the day for me was Alonso - wasn't the best car but still won.

Loser of the day - The sport...again... Get rid of the pitstops altogether. force people to overtake rather than mince around until the pit stop.
