Actually yes, it was much milder today and so i have managed to get the side panels painted up, - just need to laquer them now i also received a shipment form Cooler Master NL yesterday which amoung other things had my new Light conduct lens' (the plastic bit that goes in the led holes onthe front panel) as i broke the other ones when trying to remove them for anodising.

Still awaiting my white led fans, should have had them last thurdsday but they sudenly went out of stock! still have the blue ones as a fall back.

I need to start doing the log now, so watch out a for a log!

Tiny Update

So Today i finished the panels, and tonight i did a tiny bit of work putting things back together.

The light conduct lens replacements, and the button surrounds:

After trying hot glue, and super glue that i couldn't get out of the bottle i decided to go for double sided tape, all parts in place:

Unfortunately the camera died and i hadn't recharged any batteries, so front pic will have to wait until tomorrow.

Plans for tomorrow and over the weekend:
Solder the PSU back together, install new amber and build back up.
Pray that the white LED fans arrive tomorrow!
Some small adjustments to the drive bays.
Fix I/O ports back in place.
Install low end system (Thanks Yewen - did i ever paypal you postage? hmm i don't think so

)
Install fans if they ever arrive if not have to go with the blue ones :mad:

Install Cold cathodes
Put panels back in place

Final shots and write up!

damn competitor and cooler master stock - looks like the white LED fans are out of the wondow now, as there is no stock to be had :mad:

i've search high and low and there are a couple of places that have them but only 1 or 2 in stock Arrgh

I know of somewhere with stock... although if you mean them then they do indeed suck. (How did they win best retailor even with all that advertising?) Took them a week for nextday delivery because they 'forgot to send it'

So last night i put the PSU back together, All the bits - crap pictures again!

Soldering the wires back - i hope it works!

Today i deacided to do a bit more painting, this time the motherboard tray - I/O and PCI area:

I also decided that, seeing as i cut big holes thinking the Billet fan grills could be used, I'd make a new back part using 2mm composite alu:

and of course paint that as well!

Still need to add the fan holes

Well the competition is almost done, I haven't managed to get all i wanted done, but i'm at a stage where it's submitable, i'm just uploading my pictures now.

There is talk on the CM forums of a 5 day extension - so although i will submit my mod there may yet still be time to to the little bits i didn't quite have enough time for.

Edit: a pole was taken and there will be no extention, My entry is submitted :cool:

Description of Case

For this mod I am using and old CM ATCs 201c-SX1 case that when purchased was in a bit of a mess and used for spare parts initially, the top panel was marked where something (possibly a radiator) was sat on top, scratches to the front and side panel as well as various parts missing.

Background to this modification

I currently have a 201b-SX1 holding my main computer. This computer sits on the floor giving easy access to the optical drive bays but more difficult access to the front I/O ports being close to the floor and also leads trailing across the drive bays. Ideally I would have the case sat on the desk with pride of place however I find access to the optical drive quite difficult.

In my opinion the ATCs range of cases are the ultimate in style and build quality. So with this in mind I decided to give the old battered unloved 201 a new lease of life and try to incorporate my requirements bringing it into the future!

This it the first modding of this kind I have ever done – prior mods have been simple change of fans and changing Power LEDs

Looks nice, but I would have liked to see a more silver/blue theme.

I love the ATCS on the panel.

I really, really really think having it the right way up is better. But hey its your mod.

Can you expand on that? The theme should have been blue/white with silver for the subtle bits like power switches thumb screws etc.. but due to a certain supplier showing stock yet not having any i couldn;t get hold of white LED fans.

What would you have done?

For my use it's ideal, but also it wouldn't have been much of a mod if i'd just changed the colour of the case - i'm hoping to score well in the following areas "Innovativeness, Uniqueness, Fresh idea" having turned it upside down as i've not seen it done before!
