Well Cooler Master have released details of their 2006 mod competition due to start on 1st Spetember.

Details Here

Some great prizes to be had, and would be pretty cool if a few OcUKers were to enter and post up a log of thier mods.

Your Mod will need to inclued 5 coolermaster PARTS as follows:

Ok guys, to make it easier, we'll count any visible Cooler Master product as 1 product. Ok, if you can prove that you really used the thermal paste, we can count that; if you only say you used it but no picture to support you, that thermal paste cannot be counted. Wink

Many of you have guessed this right:

1x Cooler Master 80mm fan = 1 product;
2x Cooler Master 80mm fan = 2 products;
1x Cooler Master 120mm fan = 1 product;
1x Cooler Master Cable = 1 product;
1x Cooler Master PSU = 1 product;
1x Cooler Master case = 2 products
and the list go on and on...

I think "piece" is easier to justify than "category". So every CM product counts. Product is something that has retail value -- CM logo sticker, CM t-shirt, CM poster, CM keychain and so will NOT be counted!

We encourage contestants to use some of our signature items like case, PSU, coolers etc. After all, this is a Cooler Master contest, isn't it? :Wink:
I'm going to give it a go so watch out for my log!

OcUK Entries:

Harib0 - ATC 201
Goreblast - ATC 500
Shadowscotland - ATC 620 (funds permitting)

MAJOR UPDATE

The contest has been extended for two weeks due to the CM forum being down with server problems for two weeks!

The contest will now close on the
11/15/2006.

I need 1x CM 80mm case fan, 1x CM Cold cathode, 4x CM case feet, 1x CM powerswitch and 1x CM IDE cable for my Android case. Do you recon that would qualify me? :)

I reckon that would qualify you! you should do it - though the comp ends on 31st october, but even if you just entred a work in progress, you'd be in with a chance i think!

I've got the case, and luckily most other bit in my odds and sods box, so i'm not planning on spending much money at all - calling in a few favours and borrowing, begging or stealing lol!

It doesn't have to be a big budget mod, and a few of us, me included are just entering for fun as there is no way in the world we would ever win!

Hey here's a thought, when the CM comp has finished we could post on OcUK and set up a poll for the OcUK members to vote a OcUK winner!

Is the competition decided by judges or a public vote/poll?

Judges can be bribed ;) :D

The cooler master comp is decided by the forum members, any ties will be settled by CM staff.

And Raikiri - i can't believe you were drawn for a prize in the survey thread - you'd only been signed up 2 days and you've not even posted on the forums!

you will! I think this will be a really good laugh and will bring the CC community closer together!

Didnt you sell me a silver CM bezel? :D

Probably lol, you know what it's like you have it for ages think your not going to need it so sell it and then you need one!

Is anyone planning to mod USB/Firewire into their case? think of the ATC 500/200 guys that don;t aready have it.

I've got a port if anyone wants it. Has 2 USB, 1 FW and audio

The Clarification if parts is cool, i'll copy that into the op.
(got 4 fans in my case lol thats enough with the case!)

No CM case is needed to enter, however it does give you a head start with it counting as two items.

the system doesnt have to be working as i understand it, it's purely about modding the case, although to have HSF and PSU etc.. it would be better if it were working. I need to get myself a cheap Motherboard/CPU/RAM cobo to go in mine -anyone want to donate?

I actually got to do some work yesterday and drilled out all the rivits (thought about using screws as well so when you know what size they are please let me know goreblast), and drilled some new holes, but i'm crap at getting them in the right place! also came across a stumbling block though with the way my side panels fit in.

There are no work logs yet, but i think once the CM closing date has gone everyone should post work logs on OcUK and as said earlier we can then set up a poll for OcUK memebers to vote for their favourite mod.

Messiah is that to enter your Android?

Looking great! was that just using 1500grit and then polishing? what did you use to polish?

Tonight i've finally managed to get the silver rings out that surround the power and reset buttons, they must have stuck in with super glue

Off to Scotland tomorrow for 6 days - loosing valuable time but hopefully i will be able to make a decision on what i'm going to do colour wise to the panels!

some cracking polishing there, i've been away and haven't done anything, i had planned to do some planning but hey the weekend will soon be here!

any update's at all lads? :rolleyes:

As Raikiri states there wont be many posting of work logs etc.. here until the closing date of the competition (31st october).

I think i've almost sussed out what vinyl i'm going to use for the side panels and top, just awaiting a few more samples!

I need to decide if i'm going to polish the front or get it anodised (if so what colour) so need to source that as well and get a price (this is not a big budget mod!)

Still need to get hold of a MOBO/CPU/RAM combo - donations welcome :D :D

Buzz me on msn, may have an old rig that isnt up to charirty donation lying about, by that I mean wont run 98se and office 2000. But would boot XP up.

I don't get that, wont run 98se but will boot up XP?

Progress Report:

Well, i got some time today to work on my mod, and i've been dremeling and jigsawing away, all my cutting disks on the dremel clone are done now so i had to stop (see thread about dremel bits). My side panels now fit again, althought there is still a small area that need to be removed were there are rivits to make them fit snug again.

I Jigsawed out the rear fan area, just need to sand/file/dremel it down now to smooth it off - whats the best way to do this? is there a specific dremel type tool that would be suitable? I don't think sand paper will work and i don't have a metal file.

I have some new cutting disks again so modding can recommence!

I have also decided to strip the existing paint off and spray the panels to cover up the cut edges - i'll still be applying vinyl but i think sprying as well will gove a better finish allround.

I have been thinking about using some mesh although i'm not sure what for lol

Just got a silver drive bezel and white cold cathodes as well now so fully kitted up for my 5 items:

ATC 201 Case (2 items)
CM PSU (1 Item)
CM Optical drive bezel (1 Item)
Cold Cathode kit (1 item)
80mm Fans (5 off = 5 items)
