We will use www.gamerankings.com to decide the winner, whichever game has the highest average score will pre GOTY.

This will be made a poll eventually (I hope!) but first we have to agree on games to be put up.

Judging by the suggestions on the other thread I would say:

Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3, Unreal 3, Mario Kart and super smash Bros. Brawl. Any other suggestions or does anyone disagree with those games?

Someone on the other thread mentioned mario kart and I think there is high hopes for it, will wait and see what other say before removing it, but Unreal will be added.

Bioshock, obviously. It will even top Orcarina of Time. Mark my words.
I think it has a huge chance of doing just that judging by the reviews. I'm interested to see the Edge review and also Gamespot's now that they only do half points.

It's quite clear already that it's going to be Bioshock.

It's probably going to beat even HL2's rather lofty 96% average ratio.

I'd have suggested only the biggest names get put up and the most hyped ones.

Halo 3
Assassins Creed
Call Of Duty 4
BioShock
Unreal Tournament 3
Mass Effect
Metroid (Is the new one out this year?)
Half Life 2 Episode 2 (No chance I think but a candidate?)

Think its going to be Bioshock or Mass Effect, but its hard to say as all the "big" games are not out yet. If it was my decision I would give it to God of War 2 on the PS2, not only does it hold its own against most "next gen" titles it is a fitting finally to possibly the most successful home consoles of all time, there is so much to the game its looks, its sound, its playability I cant find a fault with the game apart from it has to end and the PS3 version is a few years a way :(

DOH! I thought you meant proper game of the year rather than which game got the highest score! Scores dont mean a thing many game reviews are slightly tainted. But as we're going on scores cant see much beating Bioshock or ME this year, its a bit hard to guess when most of the biggest games are out in the next 3 months

I can't see HL2 EP2 getting far, even though it comes rammed with content like Portal, and TF2.

Bioshock has taken me by complete surprise, I never thought it would be this good and the reviews have been a big shock. 10/10 from 1up?! They're fussy goits!

Halo 3 is the strongest contender in my books. Not much is known about the single player element but I'm sure it'll sell tons just for its franchise. Mass Effect is also in the same spot - very little known about that so far too.

CoD 4...It's just another squaddie FPS, with a few new bits under another engine. Hardly original there. It'll do well but no way has a chance.

So I'd have to say Bioshock for me. For SS2 fans, its more of the same formula but wrapped around a new world/engine. I'm new to it and already love it as it reminds me horribly of Condemned. I can't wait for next week.

BioShock.

But I believe SSBB and Halo 3 will be better games overall but to be GOTY a game has to stand out and be different.

As stated already High scores != GOTY. We shouldn't use gamerankings for GOTY, my suggestion was to take all of the GOTY awards given and take the most common GOTY awarded game as the definitive GOTY 2007 game, if you catch my drift.

I'm rooting for Mass Effect, if there was one game that had to last me a whole year, that would be it.

Aye thats the drift I was catching, that way our own poll can act as a result as well and be added to the others.

Would we use magazine or websites or both?

Maybe we should come up with a set number of sources, since there is dozens and dozens no doubt.

I heard lost odyssey is not too hot.

Considering all the 10/10 scores and 98% positive remarks across the board on the demo, guessing Bioshock is hardly a tough choice ;)
