Also... More madness *not FIA though*

FOTA alliance to meet at Monza

The new alliance of F1's ten teams, FOTA, is set to meet on Thursday in the Monza paddock, Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed.

Among the initial ideas to be discussed, the sports newspaper said, is the possible shortening of grands prix from their current 300kms.

"An hour and a half for a race is too long," said Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali. "We must aim to reduce the time, because often in the second half nothing happens."

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo is to chair the Monza meeting, with Honda team boss Ross Brawn in charge of technical matters.

Also on the agenda is the inauguration of the Formula One Teams Association constitution, with all F1 chiefs due to sign up.

The Italians want to make the races shorter? Why not have two then? A sprint race and a endurance race. 30 min sprint race and a 1hr sprint endurance.

Hmm couldnt hear a lift off though...

A full lift off would have resulted in a huge gap... a gap much larger than what it was before the disputed corner.

He probably lifted about 20% if that. But that's all it takes in an accelerating Formula 1 car.

McLaren's telemetry will show how much exactly he lifted.

He was looking in the mirrors on the onboard footage too which showed his intention to slot back in behind Kimi.

Not according to autosport, unless they appealed after the decision was made??

Ferrari have insisted that they did not lodge any official protest with the race stewards about the matter.

I'm going to take a rough guess here and say that very few people will believe them :) Though they've got no real reason to lie, and it'd be fairly easy for the truth to come out if they were lying.

Why should Hamilton have kept his line the corner when:

1. his rival admits after the race that it was "all or nothing" situation for him?
2. kerbs don't give good traction
3. kerbs in the wet or damp conditions tend to spin you around
4. Kimi is shown in the aerial footage as taking that line that Hamilton is suggested to have taken to avoided the penalty

5. when there is a perfectly good "FIA-approved 2008 specification v5.6.1" (version number may not be accurate :D) run off area designed for exactly this purpose?

until there is a appeal (if there is) simple fact is Kimi fluffed it END OF, he won last year by LUCK (ok not luck but you know what i mean) this year hes been the same he has no consistency, he didnt with Maclaren either so either hes just lucky or i dont know what, plus I hate the way the guy acts on the camera, he thinks hes so much better and doesnt have to speak to everyone, i hope he gets dumped and drives for force india! (wont happen i know)

RANT OVER

Exactly what i was thinking.

Also from that view, it shows there was no need to LH to take a left turn.

the curbs were wet, because it had been raining. It would have been madness to attempt to ride the curbs which is what he would have had to do to even vaguely make the corner, also given the fact that he may of ended up bouncing over the curbs and colliding with Kimi, cutting the corner was clearly the most sensible option.
