2008 Chinese GP - Race 17/18

hamilton or kimi 1-2 not sure on order, massa 4th, kovi 3rd, he has speed just made a lock up on his qualifying lap. i think he can beat massa and cause him problems while hamilton/raikonen battle it out.

You have a little too much faith in Heikki. He has consistently shown this year that he is slower than his team mate and the other 2 Ferrari drivers.

I dont understand the faith that people have with Heikki. He hasnt a single showing this year, where I felt he drove hard. Even his win came when all the front runners dropped out or had problems.

No way can he finish ahead of Massa, unless Massa has a serious problem. Hell, even if he got a 20 second head start, Heikki still couldnt win. :p

*snip*
I'm off to the bookies now...
That would be hilarious :D

Yeh I'm thinking Kovi could put a spanner in the works for Ferrari, hugely depends on what Alonso is like though. Can't see him making it at all easy for Kova to get past him and get at Massa.

I really hope there aren't any accidents at the start effecting the front runners, although I'm worried the stewards will be far more of a problem.

I wonder what Kubica can do from the back. Not to forget there is also a chance of rain (think they said 30% chance?) which could make it all very exciting.

I hope this race keeps me on the edge of the seat like both last race and Spa did to a great extent!

If Heikki is actually competitive Id be amazed, let alone him mixing it up with the top drivers...

I used to think he needed to settle in at McLaren and get used to the dynamic, but hes just average...

I think average is a little unfair.

edited for reading that post all wrong :(

Raikkonen to spear Hamilton off, get banned next year but not care and a certain spanish driver to step in at ferrari?

Shame about the RB5 next year, was hoping for some changes but obviously doesnt really matter the teams will always get round the new rules.

Unfortunately I dont - hes in a great car (considering the reliability its probably the best in the field now) but hasnt shown any real skill that sets him apart from other F1 drivers - I think that deserves the 'average' tag. Please dont take its that Im being derogatory, hes just done nothing special...

Yes hes scored points but thats a default due to the car hes in - not because hes in that car...

You could be right, but as other people have said its just speculation. He certainly isn't performing at the top level consistantly. But he does show at times he has some serious pace. Maybe next year will be able to give us more evidence in this area.

He wont be given anybody any evidence of any serious pace.

What we see of Heikki is good form in qualifying. Even then though, he is consistently slower than Hamilton. Fair enough, Hamilton is arguably the fastest driver we have seen in a long time, but in races, Heikki is very ordinary. Its almost as if McLaren have a put in a robot into the car, who will perform below average, but wont make any mistakes and bring it home every time.

As the No.2 driver, the only people he should get beaten by are the 2 Ferraris and his team leader, barring unforseen circumstances (of course). His race strategies generally play safe, as he isnt expected to finish ahead of Hamilton or the 2 Ferraris, but if they have problems, then he should get the win.

I dont remember Heikki outpacing Hamilton at any stage of this season? Even Piquet has performed better in some races than Alonso, but Heikki seems completely demoralised and beaten into submission (by Hamilton).

And to think, he was Alonso's replacement.

lol, did ITV just call the stewards decision to penalise Ham and Ros in Canada questionable?
If anything they got off lightly, pure unadulterated stupidity that caused that accident.

Exactly. McLaren wanted someone who wouldn't rock the boat, who would do exactly what he was told and more to the point wouldn't challenge Hamilton.

And for this, they can still end up with neither the drivers nor the constructors title yet....

So... I wonder what the advert:race ratio is today? I predict the race will have the economy of an F1 car and the adverts a Polo Bluemotion :(

You know it, they were getting fairly advert happy during the program yesterday. As we've seen before ITV don't give a **** about the viewers. If they can average adverts every 10 minutes then they'll feel good. Special points available to them if they get two separate ad breaks in under 7 minutes.

**** ITV and everyone in charge.

Edit: JESUS! *Insert generic old Hamilton montage.*
Cringeworthy program today.
