2009 - 2010 Football Predictions Thread

Liverpool were Spurs' bogey team?

You sure Spurs didn't just lose because they were worse than Liverpool every time?

Why are you commenting? Come back when Newcastle win their first trophy before your Dad was born (Yay the Championship!).

;)

As for the stats just to illustrate I do actually know what I'm talking about, Spurs have only managed 5 League wins away at Anfield in their history. It is their bogey ground. :p

I seem to remember without Alonso and with Gerrard playing off of Torres we went to Old Trafford and won 4-1. We've had 1 match where we've failed to create lots of chances where the team collectively played incredibly poorly and it's because of Alonso leaving

I'm far from a Lucas fan but the guy gets a lot of unfair stick. He's been far from our worst performer and our bad start has not been down to him but because of the form of our front 4 and the injury problems at the back. But Lucas is an easy target and we've lost Alonso so that's the real problem

Anyway, joining in the hysteria; we'll be lucky to make the top 10 let alone the top 5.

I'm only commenting on the game I saw, who knows maybe Liverpool will win the league; I really don't know but personally I think Alonso leaving leaves a massive hole in your midfield.

I actually kinda hope we don't win this year. This teams had certain deficiencies for a few years now, our success has hidden it well and contributed to it not being addressed. But our chances this season may come down to Hargeves. *IF* he was to come back and soon, a fit Hargreves would make a huge difference to this MU team. But its a big if/
But right now, I would guess at:
1:chelsea
2:MU
3:Arsenal
4:Liverpool
5:Spurs

In the pre season predictions thread, lots of people were predicting Liverpool to come first or second. After 4 games, they are now being written off, maybe to scrape in at 4th, maybe not.

I initially said Liverpool would finish first, now I think

Chelsea
Liverpool
Man U
Arsenal
Man City

Most my 'hate' posts are directed towards Man U.

Spurs don't win anything so there wouldn't be any sense in being jealous/bitter.

We've got 2 league cups in the last 10 seasons, not particularly great but that's 2 more bits of silverware that Newcastle have got in the last 50+ years.

Personally I don't see why you have to 'hate' anyone.

Premiership

1/ Man Utd
2/ Chelsea
3/ Arsenal
4/ Liverpool

Proud to say that I was a pessimistic sod of a Liverpool fan at the start of the season, and that that definately hasn't changed!

Nice that this thread has now been merged with the older predictions one, we can see how much and how quickly views change!

Well, I can't get my predictions any more wrong than last year... :p

Wrong!

Premiership:
1st Man Utd
2nd Liverpool
3rd Chelsea
4th Arsenal

0/0. Fail.

18th Burnley
19th Wolves
20th Hull

2/3. OK.

FA Cup: Man Utd
Carling Cup: Chelsea

Wrong way around.

Champions League: Can't say no to Real Madrid, can you?
Europa League: Who cares? I guess an unfashionable team from Germany/eastern Europe.

Fulham count as an unfashionable team, right? :p

My Team - Spurs
We'll get beat by Liverpool on the first day of the season and then go into freefall. 'Arry will blame everyone but himself and get sacked after eight games. A new messiah will take over, we'll desperately splash out £50 million on mediocre players in January and then finish comfortably mid-table.

This is why I should never gamble. :o

FA Premiership

1st - Liverpool
2nd - Man Utd
3rd - Chelsea
4th - Arsenal

Err... :/

Birmingham
Wigan
Hull

1/3.. Err...

FA Cup

League Cup
Aston Villa

Runners-up

Champs League
Real Madrid

LOL

Europa League
Roma

Dunno, who cares.
My Team - Aston Villa

We've just not invested enough so far, shipped out lots of players and the only people we've bought are 9 years old or crippled. Or both.

Too many teams around us getting the players they want and our squad is just too small to compete. I think we could get a good cup run together but don't see us getting far in the Europa League again. I think we'll finish 8th.

Was right with the Europa League bit.

FA Premiership
1st - Liverpool - LOL
2nd - Man UTD - Correct, this was done pre Ronaldo sale as well I think which is why I placed them above Chelsea
3rd - Chelsea
4th - Arsenal

Relegated
Burnley - Correct
Stoke
Spurs (har har).. -Not a serious prediction. Of course I meant Hull or Portsmouth.

FA Cup
Chelsea - Correct

League Cup
Man UTD - Correct

Champs League
Real Madrid -If it wasn't them then I would have predicted Barca. Inter and Bayern are good but I seemingly didn't realise just how good, especially the former is this year.

My Team - Arsenal

Not that great, though did pick the domestic cups. I think Liverpool ruined a lot of people's predictions. We also did better than we were 'supposed' to as well.
