2009 Christmas Work Do Thread

Got ours tomorrow night. It's black tie instead of smart casual for once, which is good, as it stops all the men going straight from work and just taking their tie off. I'm thinking of wearing my kilt. It'll give people something to talk to me about - I'm boring as hell with people I don't know.

Not sure if I'll be drinking yet. Last year I got absolutely dam-bustered and danced like to mentalist. I'm reliably informed that I felt up most of the women in my dept and had to be restrained from feeling up those that I really shouldn't, like the directors. I ended up getting a taxi home at 3am, throwing up in the hall, then falling asleep in the bathroom. My wife was bemused, though not too cross at least. Thank God I wasn't in work again till after New Year. Incredibly, I'm still no speaking terms with the women at work.

We went go-karting for this year's work do. I managed to crash my kart, came totalyl out of it and everything, in the final (was 2nd to my boss) and wrecked my knee. Overall it was fantastic fun, with a rubbish ending and my knee's still really sore.

I've got two, both this week. One is tomorrow which is management and team leaders, and then my old department one on Saturday. I'll be taking it easy tomorrow night seeing as the headshed are there, but on Saturday I imagine a fair bit of alcohol will be consumed...

Just came back from my works party, had to fly to Frankfurt. Champaign reception, followed by a 3 course meal and drinks on tap. For entertainment we had a set from a live band and a few DJs doing their thing.

A nice evening but paying for it today...my head.

Had our work xmas do last thursday. Free food, drink and lovely ladies (see pic below) as "entertainment"; they pretty much ended up giving lap dances :D. DJ sucked though so we left and went to a bar...ended up talking to 2 girls who turned out to be 18 and working in pizza hut

All in all a dam good night :D

I do not attend my work's Xmas dos or parties. I can hardly wait to see the back of my colleagues at the end of each day / weekends, the last thing I want to do is go out and actually socialise with them.

my work place had it already, I didn't go

don't like clubbing particularly in chavv land :( and normally a fight breaks out between my store and the other onces.

As working as a temporary bar staffer in a 4* hotel in tunbridge wells recently (spa hotel) all i have been doing for the last 2 weeks is functions for companies. luckily for them its been either 2 bottles or 4 bottles of wine per table with the latter being much better entertainment for myself. When the boss's table starts getting drunk they all start swapping seats (****** off the waiting staff who give out the food) and generally start getting chummy. So basically the key to a good Christmas party for you bosses out there, is get lots of wine in ( so not too many overpriced drinks have to be bought at he bar ) so you can all have a merry time together without hopefully it ending in a punch up behind the glass bins.

My company is going to the local De Vere hotel (Dunston Hall) for a nice three-course meal followed by music (DJ playing obtrusively loud music) and dancing. The company puts a certain amount of money behind the bar, which is enough for pre-dinner drinks and a few post-dinner drinks. I (and quite a few others) tend to leave after the free post-dinner drinks.

We were able to draw half a mustache on the boss's face before he noticed :p This is because he kept doing the "Go Compare" ad in the office because he looks similar to the guy in the ad :p

Last year we had ours in the Natural History museum which was quite cool. Just a bar in Canary Wharf this year. I'm new and didn't realise that apparently you have get as many shots as possible from the free bar before the boss turns up. Ouch.
