2011 car plans....

I'm at a bit of a crossroads really. I'm not sure whether to keep the Golf, or change to something a little newer. It's a great car, low mileage, and apart from VW owning it for 6 months, I'm the only owner and know its service history intimately. So I'm leaning towards keeping it and getting something fun for the weekends. I have something in mind that I'm mulling over.

(hang on I only use the Golf at weekends too!)

Doubt I'll replace the Mini any time soon, still really enjoying driving it. Can't think of anything I'd prefer right now.
I'll be replacing my coilovers for Koni FSDs in the next few weeks (in hindsight coilovers were probably not a good decision for the potholed Bristol roads....)

Getting married in Q3 2011 after which I'll be buying a big comfy estate for the impending dog / kids / life. I've been wanting something comfy for a while but can't justify changing my car at the minute as I only do 5miles a day (zero in summer when I take my mountain bike), guess I'm getting old. :p

Probably keep my GTi6 as a second car as at that point we would have moved out of the city so will probably need two cars. Plus it's next to worthless anyway, well probably £2k - £2.5k to the right buyer but you know what I mean.

Plan is to keep my Octavia and hopefully not throw as much money at keeping it running... although starting off the year with a CEL light is probably a sign that that is a bit optimistic :(

If I do change cars it will probably be for a standard Focus in 1.6/1.8 petrol or diesel form :(

No plans this year, Keep and maintain the Swift.

Plan to replace in 2012 if all goes well. Will more than likely start to test drive alternatives this summer. Fancy something 2seater,rwd and sporty. (while I'm still young lol)

plan to run my astra till it dies which still is a good few years yet :) certainly been one of the more reliable cars i bought

Graduating in the summer, entirely depends on the world of work.

I've got the money saved but the job I'm thinking about applying for would be a fair commute and thus I'd have to sacrifice something quick for something frugal-ish. Keeping an eye on the likes of JCW, Clio 200, will have to book a few test drives when the time comes. Dead excited and absolutely thrilled at the sort of car insurance quotes I'm getting for the aforementioned vehicles.

3" stainless downpipe and sport cat
2.5" stainless cat back
Stage 3 remap
Short shift kit
Steering rack brace

The big stuff is saved for 2012. (but the prep work is already under way)

Tidy up the mx5. (paint work and suspension bushes)

Finish of the civic. (bit of welding, de-rust arches, repaint, fit remaining parts)

Get to 1 or 2 track days in either of the above.

Break GT4 for parts.

How thrilling!

We all know you wont buy anything :p

Really does depend on the world of work. I'm not buying anything until I've got a solid income that would enable me to safely own and run something decent. I'm pretty risk averse and I simply don't know enough about motors to be making 'risky' purchases without a precautionary balance.

So there is a small chance that I may not buy anything :D
