2012 is directed and co-written by epic German filmmaker Roland Emmerich, of films like Stargate, Independence Day, Godzilla, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow, and 10,000 B.C. previosuly. It was also co-written by Harald Kloser, of The Thirteenth Floor, The Day After Tomorrow, Alien vs Predator, and 10,000 B.C. as well. 2012 slams into theaters everywhere on July 10th, 2009 next summer!

I think Danny Glover is playing the President in the movie based on what iMDB says

That's two reasons it's going to be rubbish. Add the fact it's based (apparently and supposedly) on the Mayan calender and that's three.

Just thought i would bump this old thread rather than start a new one, trailer is now out and doesn't look too bad, though it is very 'Day After' looking. Worth a watch on DVD/BR i think when it's released.

Yeah, shame about the parallel universe stuff. Would have been better if he had stuck to the normal rather than the paranormal, but still it's been a while since we have seen a decent CGI disaster flick.
