2013 Athletics Thread

They played right into Mo's hands YET AGAIN :P Even he said at the end he was expecting them to run tactical and take it out fast but yet again they left it to the last 1000 before doing anything from which point he has proven for over 2 years now he is unbeatable.

Chris O'Hare again in the 1500 semi's, absolutely class.

Should have had Jamie Bowie on relay again tonight. Disappointing.

There is but its rarely viewed and I didn't have enough time through the season to keep it updated.

Triple jump has just come alive. Couple of jumpers threatening 18m and at least two have been over 18m but fouled

Edit: There you go, Teddy Tamgho with an 18.04m jump.

Disappointing end for our mob.

The last leg by the womens team was inexcusable, especially as she'd been charged down in the heats. As for Dwain & Co. It was a shame, but recent years have toughened us up to disaster. :D

Since Bejing 2008 I've decamped to Digital Spy during the big Championships and get all opinionated in their threads.

You put some good effort in with the Diamond League stuff, but there seems to be no real interest here. :(

Well, the men's relay team fluffed it up again :(

As soon as the build up started and the commentators said "they've really been working on their changeovers which are now excellent..." I was worried - it's as if they'd forgotten that five out of the last six have been stuffed up through dodgy changeovers, sorry I guess that's now six out of the last seven...

Still excellent performances from Mo Farah and Christine Ohurogu with Adam Gemeli looking like he is definitely one to watch for the future. I can't really believe that he's only the second Briton to run under 20 seconds for the 200m.

//edit - shouldn't the USA team have been disqualified also since their changeover for the final leg had a runner put both feet into Usain Bolt's lane? It certainly looked like that from the replay but maybe there's a technicality I'm missing or perhaps since I only saw it once on the replay I was mistaken?

It did look like US ran out of their lane, if it's not picked up teams can appeal, I'm unsure if there is a time limit for doing so though.

Was certainly disappointing to lose the bronze but that's the relay... Just knew they would mess it up after all the build up and talking they were doing in the interviews.

The girls got promoted into the bronze, so I guess it all balances out :p

Enjoyable championships overall.

Also the tickets for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow go on sale today, though you do have a month to apply, for those interested in going :)
