A quick overview of the Mazda Road to Indy ladder series results and standings:
After round 4 of the Indy Lights championship, Carlos Munoz leads on 167 points, followed by Peter Dempsey (earlier mentioned as winner of the Freedom 100) on 140 and Gabby Chaves on 139.

Overview: The Detroit Grand Prix began as a Formula One race in 1982, through the downtown streets surrounding the Renaissance Centre. Ayrton Senna won the last three F1 races held there between 1986-1988. It became an Indycar event under CART sanctioning from 1989 to 2001, moving to Belle Isle in 1992. After a 6 year gap, Indycar returned to Detroit for 2007-8, halting the event subsequently due to economic problems in the city. In 2012 the Detroit race was revived for a third time, despite historical difficulties with the quality of the tarmac surface and paddock\spectator areas. 2013 will see a double-header event with two 70-lap races as opposed to one 90-lap race in the past.

It's speculated that Ryan Briscoe may return for additional events with Ganassi when they do not conflict with his ALMS schedule.

Bourdais out of the race with a throttle issue, Sato also out with a mechanical problem. Ryan Hunter-Reay leads on lap 27, followed by Mike Conway, Will Power, Dario Franchitti and Helio Castroneves.

Mike Conway wins the first race of the dual in Detroit, his second career victory in Indycar. Ryan Hunter-Reay is second, Justin Wilson third. A 1-3 result for Dale Coyne Racing. Honda makes a strong comeback after Indianapolis with 7 of the top 10 cars being Honda-powered.

Race 2 at Detroit is about to begin, field is on the formation lap.
Will Power to the lead. Allmendinger having a terrible weekend, in the wall again on lap one.

Lap 26, Mike Conway continues his strong showing at Detroit, leading from Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Tony Kanaan and Tristan Vautier.
Pagenaud leapfrogs Conway during the final stops, he has a 2.7 second lead over James Jakes who used an alternate pit strategy to take second. Mike Conway is third a further 1 second back.

Lap 26, Mike Conway continues his strong showing at Detroit, leading from Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Tony Kanaan and Tristan Vautier.
Pagenaud leapfrogs Conway during the final stops, he has a 2.7 second lead over James Jakes who used an alternate pit strategy to take second. Mike Conway is third a further 1 second back.

Sato was being Sato, de Silvestro apparently had a steering failure. Bourdais causing the big pile up seemed to be brain fade on his part, was penalised for it. I've not been a fan of double file restarts and allowing drivers to pass before the line, it contributes to the problem. That and the caution for Viso's wing end-plate was questionable.
Conway looked pretty mediocre for most of last year, and he's had his fair share of crashes in Indycar and GP2 which is why he has few wins. Still, I'll give Mike credit when it's due, he drove very well this weekend.
