2014 Chilli Growers Thread

My Aji's are going from strength to strength now and minimum 95% of flowers are turning into chili's but no ripe ones yet :(

My Scotch bonnets between 7 plants i have 4 fruit now lol, ive tried fingering them, brushing them, even a big fan aimed at them to spread their love pollen but I am getting so much flower drop its mental.. easily 150 flowers binned so far

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've lost 20+ Habanero flowers a day for the last couple of months and I'm still snowed under with fruit. I have about 100 on the plant (bush) at the moment and I've taken about 50 ripe ones off so far. Mine were early fruiting so I'm sure you'll get plenty eventually.

I lose loads of flowers too, every year, I always end up with more chillies than I know what to do with though. All of my 39 plants are sill all going strong, covered in fruits now, a few ripe!

my ajis flower drop like crazy too

My aji's barely drop at all.. Counted them today and over 5 plants i have 67 chillis at vary stages and loads more flowers.

Seems my fan method for my scotch bonnets is working now as i counted 10 at varying stages instead of the orig 2

I desperately need to repot my chillies :( Having a 10-month old in the house limits the time I have to do things like that though, so they've had to take a backseat at the moment. I fear that I might have set things back quite a lot by not potting them on soon enough. I'll have to try and do it this week.

Same here. I think a few of mine have suffered from not having my full attention :(

First batch of curry chilies. That's about 1/3 of the ones in the bush. Going to jeep the rest fresh and freeze them. Hopefully it'll start flowering again and have time for a second round.

White fly, is still causing me massive issues, my king moricha is not doing well :(.

Here is an above picture of all of mine, 39 in total, I will never grow so many again, it's hard work.
I will try to get some close up pictures at some point soon as they are mostly all covered in fruit, though not many ripe yet. It's difficult at the moment as I'm suffering with a bad back and sciatica.

Sporting over a 100 Aji's now over my 7 plants and more coming each day. The flower to chili ratio on them is bang on.

Finally my Scotch Bonnets are slinging out chilies slowly, i tried fingering them to pollinate them among other things but in the end.... big fan blowing the bejesus on them seems to work.

How long can it take Aji's and Scotch Bonnets to ripen as some of my Aji's feel like they have been there for 2-3 weeks lol

Finally getting some starting to ripen now on my superhots, still unsure about my sweet banana peppers, I read that they do ripen to red and are at their sweetest then but mine have been very light green/yellow for a huge amount of time so I don't know whether to just pick them :S

Why not pick one and try it?

God I hate whitefly, they're winning. there lifecycle is so short pesticide doesn't work.

Wondering if I should cut them back so there's no leaves for the to feed on, and hope they survive a long winter.

Pretty crazy. I'd have thought that repeated treatement with a pesticide would take care of them. Do you have tons of whitefly on other local plants which are causing re-infestations?

They're in conservatory so only re-infestation with each other, they have a life cycle of under 3 days. And you are not meant to repeat treat that often, most are once every 7 days, one I have is once every 3 days but like 3 times max, although I have on the ones with no chilies on them. Internet days that lots of gardeners day it's impossible to get rid of a whitefly infestation, and I'm starting to agree with them.

Luckely my curry is the least infected and seems to be struggling on fine.
