2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying 12/16 October *** Spoilers ***

It's surprising (or maybe not) how bad most of the England player's first touch is. Every time they start playing this one touch stuff around the box I expect them to lose it.

ITV Sport coverage needs to die a death.

Thought England were quite 'meh' despite the five goals and possession, I thought they lacked a real creative spark in the centre.

That's Rooney's goals scored for this year mind.

I wish I hadn't bothered watching it.

I knew Welbeck would get motm because of his involvement in the goals, but he was very poor. I think a more direct player like Defoe would have done much more damage.

Walker was poor too. He kept getting in lennons way.

I think southgate has a point about pre qualification too. After such an attack and defend session we may well struggle more against Poland.

Yes I must admit I switched over to the Wales Scotland game in the second half as that was a proper contest - and turned out to be far more entertaining.

England were OK, they certainly need more time to gel. It really shows when the likes of Gerrard, Lamps and co are not playing...

It was a very disjointed performance, they need (a lot) more time together. It was like watching the opposite of Spain!

It was a pretty dire match, even though England were unlucky not to score 3 or 4 more (Carrick's cracker against the bar, and two others from Rooney that missed by mm's)

Last night didnt change my opinion of Welbeck, he is still pretty awful even if that heal flick needs to be trade marked lol.

Not sure how anyone can really say "it shows when Lampard and Gerrard arent playing" - when there have been many similar displays when they have played.

England generally over-complicated it centrally, plus a lot of passes being that bit too strong for the on-rushing player.

Need to beat Poland away on Tuesday comfortably imo to make up for the goals that were not scored last night (as goals scored in the group as a whole could be very important)

Fewer and fewer people now seem to even care about England games. I guess we are just following the example of the players.

Rooney now has 3 england goals for 2012. He can take some time off now, as in 10 years he averages 3 goals for England per year.

I certainly don't. Players don't care so I can't be bothered to give a toss when the inevitable failure is bound to arrive.

I already support Newcastle who never win anything so why would I go through further pain of England :p at least Newcastle don't expect to win anything :D

Last night against THAT opposition they were missed tbh. There were too many headless chickens on the pitch and some experience would have been welcomed.

Shame there wasn't much of that around. I left just after the last goal.

Sums up the bad atmosphere if that was the attitude towards the match from fans.

The atmosphere wasn't too bad but it's been better. There was a great air of expectation at the start which slowly evaporated and it all became a bit muted. Play was very tedious with lots of passes just going nowhere. I can’t remember the last time I left early but with ten minutes to go I’d seen enough.

My MotM was the San Marino goalie which says it all. :p

I suppose it could be blamed on the lack of opposition but I’m not too sure. It’s a shame our defence didn’t get a chance to play as Warsaw is going to be such a different kettle of fish. Tuesday night will be a tough one and we do need to win this one to consolidate our position in the group.

There will most certainly be quite an atmosphere and I just hope we can be heard over 55,000 poles, we’ll certainly try our best! :D

Walker really has been dire for Spurs this season, by far the worst player for Spurs so far, he looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights. When Naughton is back fit Walker will have a fight on his hands to stay in the side as AVB doesn't appear to have "favourites" like Redknapp.

Walker has been poor for a while. His pace gets him out of so much trouble but that can't cover him all the time. Seems to suffer with lack of concentration, I've lost count how many times he's miscontrolled a simple pass or hit a poor pass himself.

walker's just bleedin' thick! i hope vert gets in his ear and tells him how to position and compose himself.

No doubt he is, along with Gallas as well, but like you say his brain must be the size of a pea, some people are just beyond teaching. If it wasnt for his physical prowess and almost unmatched speed he wouldnt even be playing for his boyhood club Sheffield Utd let alone England.

If he is playing against decent opposition like Poland, I can see him being a real liability. But without Richards, and Johnson and center backs like Smalling and Jones who can play there, I struggle to think of anyone else.

It's almost as if cm1179 has a problem processing information sometimes.

Can you make a post where you don't turn something in to a dig at another club?

oh do i now, tummy, do i really? lol the voice of reason tummy has stuck his oar in

and it's not a key responsibility one more solo but considering how inept he made your defence look, it was worth pointing out. infact, all our goals made your defence look pap.
