2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying and International Friendlies 14th August *** Spoilers ***

If he would have stayed at Palace he wouldn't have been in the squad, i'm 100% confident of that.

Well his inclusion in 2012 would have indicated otherwise. There's obviously big question marks over whether he will or won't make the impact that's expected of him, but him being in this current squad certainly isn't ridiculous, particularly with the FA's drive to improve the progression of young English footballers.

Hmm, he played 7 minutes nearly a year ago. Not so sure about that. I'm not denying he might eventually be an important England player just he isn't anywhere near ready yet.

Hart, Walker, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines, Gerrard (c) Wilshere, Cleverley Walcott, Rooney, Welbeck.

This will be thrilling, I'm sure.

So Walcott who injured his ankle is starting?? :/...hopefully he comes through ok and doesnt injure it further as we have a game on Sat against Villa.

Same goes for Wilshere as well, last thing we need is him out long term with an injury or he aggravates his ankle injury that kept him out for most of last season and all of the season before.

England should win this 2-1 i reckon.

I don't know if any of you saw the U21 match last night but the next generation of England players is looking quite strong. I know the opposition wasn't top class but their basics were a class above the senior sides.

Movement, passing and energy was much much better than the senior team. Admittedly a lot of other countries have good youth sides coming through but it looks like we are moving towards the right style of football.

You would think Moyes had better things to do than punditry 3 days before the season kicks off.

Am I the only one who thinks he's being a bit unprofessional? Would Fergie, Mourinho, Wenger and the rest be doing punditry work so near to the start of the season?

when did rooney's shoulder get better?

Its been getting better for a week or more. I don't think there was any need to play Rooney in the Community Shield and he wasn't completely better / was about to play for England so it made sense just to send him off to join the squad.

Well... that or he was in the doghouse about his future.

I can't say I'm a fan of it either, someone on RedCafe earlier pointed out that apparently Fergie did some punditry work in '96 and '98. Being too young for that I can't confirm!

7-8 pm would be his personal time so don't see the issue really

any minute now, i'm expecting a look of shock to appear on moyes' face as he realises he may just have slightly more pressing issues.

i bet the head of booking at itv wet her pants when he agreed to this.
