England squad to face Montenegro and San Marino.

GK: Foster, Hart, Forster

Defender: Baines, Cahill, Cole, Dawson, Ferdinand, Johnson, Smalling, Walker,

Midfielders: Carrick, Cleverley, Gerrard, Lampard, Lennon Milner, Osman, Parker, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Young

Forwards: Defoe, Rooney. Sturridge and Welbeck

Can't for the life of me work out why Hodgson has called up Osman, the guy has been dead on his feet the past couple of games. Finally seen the error of his ways and recalled Rio. I think Dawson being in the squad is a good move as well.

Just lol at Hodgson...
Hodgson: “At centre-back, we’re currently a bit deprived. Lescott’s not playing regularly.”

Yet....

Lescott: 21 starts for City this season, 6 starts in 2013.
Smalling (called up): 14 starts for United this season, 4 starts in 2013.

It doesn't matter who is better, Hodgson just completely embarrassed himself with that comment. Pretty ridiculous that a man who does nothing but go round and watch football every week doesn't know who has been playing and who hasn't!

For the record in terms of defending and heading ability then Lescott is better but passing the ball more than 5 yards and controlling a pass from anywhere on the field is where Smalling has the advantage!

Lescott has now been called up to replace Dawson who has pulled out. Like Biz said he should have been in there from the start given there's no Jagielka, he's obviously not **** like Newbie stupidly said and should be playing for City if Mancini weren't hell bent on throwing away every trophy available to him.

I like Smallimg I just wish he would get a regular game.

I can't get excited for internationals anymore, sack them off and continue with the premier league.

Not good news for anyone traveling to the San Marino game:

It appears that there will be a public transport strike in Italy on the day England play in San Marino.

The last time a strike was planned it was called off at the last moment, but it has been reported that this one will go ahead.

On Friday 22nd March and Monday 25th March 2013 transport strikes are due to take place in Italy.

Flights, trains as well as local public transport will be affected. Please see below for details:

Friday 22nd March 2013:
AIR: Flight attendants (Alitalia) will be on strike for 4 hours from 12.00 to 16.00.
LOCAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Local public transport staff will be on strike for the whole day (24 hours)

Monday 25th March 2013:
RAIL: Train drivers (Trenitalia) will be on strike for 8 hours from 09.00 to 17.00

Rio Ferdinand has been forced to withdraw from the squad and has been replaced by Steven Caulker.

Rio Ferdinand has been forced to withdraw from the squad and has been replaced by Steven Caulker.

He's either injured, has told Hodgson to get stuffed, or Fergie has a hand in it...

To be fair I wouldn't blame him, Hodgson was idiotic in the past.

Here we are:

The 34-year-old was forced to withdraw due to a detailed pre-planned training and medical programme he has been told to follow to help manage a long-standing back problem.

Strange situation with Ferdinand, from his point of view this was his chance to resurrect his international career after forcing Woy to do a major U-Turn and recall him and so with that being done he's now pulled out but indicated he is available in the future? Odd. Can only imagine Fergie's had some input and made it clear at this stage of the season he doesn't want him playing (which is fair enough from a Man Utd POV but not so much from the players International career).

Methinks Fergie had a hand in Rio doing a u-turn and not playing for England. From what SSN are saying, it seems like its a training regime issue ie Fergie wants him to follow the medical training regime he has been given and the fear is that he wont get at being an England squad member.
