2014, Our hardware is outdated :P

good for a few years yet. modern consoles only just launched dicate games and they are only as powerful as a reasonable powered quad a few years old. so a decent mid spec pc is good for two or three years yet.

gunna be some hard sells for pc components sellers ! which means mega prices for us to come

Whilst I may get jealous of new hardware releases, the voice of reason will kick in and realise my 3570K @ 4.4GHz (still room for more overclocking), 16GB, SSD and 7970 GHz. If the mining works out, perhaps a 7990 is in order :D.

Outdated? Hah!

My i7 920 laughs in the face of new hardware.

When is the new stuff expected to come out? Could really do with upgrading. :D

My 386 has a maths coprocessor, it is not lacking the speed to process any batch file you care to create.
ASCII pron does the job if you squint enough, so the 80x25 terminal is fine too.
Even my modem can fax anywhere in the world, I bet your broadband superhub cab't fax anyone. Pffft.

Personally I'm going to hold off on any "Newer" upgrades in 2014 and just get another 780 Ti for SLI and maybe another SSD for Raid 0 :)
Can't see Maxwell being world changing and the newer Intel Core i7 4790K wont exactly be a massive leap from a 4.65GHZ 4770K.

In the words of John McClain "technology peaked with frozen pizza"

Love it :D

I love how some people are acting like they're only getting 15fps in games under the term, outdated.

Aww, come on. Look at the thread. So many people in this forum discuss how they miss a generation or two or three because the price to speed isn't worth the jump. Then you get a thread saying 2012/13 parts are outdated. Oh please.

So many people feel insecure because it's not the latest number/model. Same with the tablets and phones all because their pal has one newer.

I may of started the thread but I was just curious as to who is getting the newer hardware, And I highly doubt it has anything to do with feeling "insecure" lol unless your 10 years old and you want to keep up with your friends that's just moronic.
A lot of people especially here on an enthusiast forum like to have the latest tech.
And did you not notice the " :p " at the end of the thread title ?, That should have been a big clue ;)
Personally I'm skipping any and all newer tech until 2015, Want there to be a big leap not just "Yay, 5 fps"

You obviously haven't really observed this current generation in society.

So many things have so many different meanings nowadays with so many people in how they see it. It's very hard to distinguish which is which since there is so much spin to protect their argument.
